I've never been interested in Wildcats before, but Grant Morrison? SOLD! The only question I have is... Jim Lee on art? I love him, but the man's already constantly late and dragging down All-Star Batman and Robin's schedule for it. This book should stay on with the other artist, but is his All-Star book just going to become *more* late?

I was always going to pick up the reboot of WildCats (is it spelt like that now?). I had a friend who absolutley loved the WS universe, and his favourite character was Grifter. It seems like a good book. And with Jim Lee drawing, it should be good. Also, with AS:B&R, Jim Lee said he would only leave when Miller has finished with the book. So perhaps DC will be kicking him from the book?

LOL. Your comments on Lee?

That's why the original floundered.

I don't think DC is kicking Lee from the book. He's not leaving it. It's just going to be even more late, like I said. :\

Morrison is the only reason or way this team could ever be good. Even if its "okay" it will be better than what Lee ever did with them.

I also hope they get completely redesigned, these guys are the dumbest looking team compared to Cyberforce (haha what a shitty name). They're too much of an amalgam orgy gone wrong of various Marvel and DC characters.

Then again I dont collect comics anymore and I only remember that terrible Image launch line-up from years ago.

Captain Awesome, I was never interested in Wildcats either, so I have no idea how Lee's original run was, but it was still EXTREMELY popular in its time.

Then again, that time was the '90s when flashy art ruled over actual good writing.

I meant Miller being kicked. But yeah, I doubt it, considering how much they both got paid for it. It's certainly looking like it's just going to be continuously late.

Why would Miller be kicked from the book?

Why would Miller be kicked from the book?

Fan outcry over what they are doing with the character. Miller having Batman nearly be a pyscopath, effectively kidnapping Dick.

Fan outcry has been exagerrated, and this is all what Miller intended. It's out of continuity, so it's out of harm. That'd be like DC not letting Miller finish his Dark Knight stuff because Batman's crazy in that.

haha, Miller fucking rules. He would be the "one" guy to do something really original and fucked up to that team.

Why would Miller be kicked from the book?

Cuz he wrote line's such as:

"So sleep tight, punk. Sleep tight, my ward."

"Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddam Batman."

Dick Grayson: "So what do you call this thing, anyway?"
Batman: "The Batmobile."
Dick Grayson: "That is totally queer."
Batman: "Shut up."

There is a lot of fan outcry, but the book also sells a ton. Frank Miller is also a big enough name that DC wouldn't kick him off the book. They may not bring him back for another run, but they won't can him.

But back to Wildstorm, the entire universe is being rejiggered. Morrison is also doing The Authority, although I don't remember who is doing the art. Both that and WildCats will be bi monthly.

Oh yeah. I don't have a problem with it now. Not after the discussion we had in the AS:B&R thread. I suppose the hype would come from Wizard. As much as like the mag, it does seem to be bias sometimes. They wouldn't shut up about 'I'm the goddamn Batman.'

Yep, and Gail Simone's gonna head the Gen13 relaunch. Suddenly I'm very interested in the Wildstorm universe in a way I never was before.

It is good. But lately they have been focusiing alot more on the movies, rather than the comics. But it has several good points. The letter column, the interviews with various artists and writers, news and previews on upcoming comics, lowdowns on big events, the price guide and my favourite thing of all; Dear Darkseid.

I read Wildcats and I thought it was a big pile of garbage. It was just another one of those comics in the vein of McFarlane's Spawn; gritty, overblown art with a convoluted storyline and way, way too many characters.

Large number of characters can be dealt with if they're written well. Here's hoping for Morrison to be the shining light this series needs. ;)

Yeah, my only memory of Wildcats is that it was one of the many flashy Image books that were more about T&A and explosions than any kind of story telling. Then again, much of the modern comics resurgance is taking old lame characters and transforming them, finally making them interesting and viable.

When Wildcats came out it was hard not to compare it with all the other team-based comics. Way overdone in my opinion. Let's see if I can name a few at the time:

All the Xbooks (Xmen, Uncanny Xmen, Xforce, Xfactor, etc)
Youngblood
Harbinger
