gamesindustry.biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz) is reporting that Introversion, makers of critically acclaimed titles Uplink and Darwinia for the PC, are in negotiations with both Microsoft and Sony about the possibility of releasing their games on one or both consoles.

You can read the full article here (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=17663).

UK-based independent developer Introversion, creator of indie titles Uplink and Darwinia, is currently in negotiations with both Microsoft and Sony regarding the possibility of bringing its games to consoles.

"I'm afraid I can't really give you any concrete details at the moment - suffice it is to say that we are currently discussing a number of deal negotiations with Sony and Microsoft," Introversion's Vicky Arundel told our sister site Eurogamer.

That was prompted by questions raised in a SpikeTV interview with Introversion's Mark Morris, who pointed out that the file-size requirements for Xbox Live Arcade were "perfect" for Darwinia, which is only about 30MB in size on PC.

Oh fuck yes. I would pick up Darwinia on XBLA so fast. Hope this is true.

Wow, that'd be awesome. I keep meaning to play this game, but if it was on XBLA, I'd be so down.

Aw shit yeah! Uplink was an awesome game! When I played that game at work, people actually thought I was hacking accounts! Funny.

It's only scaring you now? G4, Maxim, and CNN have been doing game journalism for a while. Not to mention shit sites like Kotaku and Spong. It's been in trouble way before SpikeTV.

I could see Darwinia working easily, but I somehow doubt Uplink is going to make it over, way to much typing and insanely fast clicking... maybe Defcon? Anyone know about the control scheme of that game?

Though, have any of those places actually 'broke' news before? I mean, if SpikeTV (or any of them) can do so on a regular basis then I'd be glad to have them aboard. Anyone who helps, for that matter; more power to them. I'm saying that their ask questions like that when, apparently, regular gaming press doesn't, reflects poorly on the industry, and positively on SpikeTV.

Wouldn't they need mouse support for Uplink? They already have keyboard support for the dash, they could use uplink as the first game to fully support a keyboard, which would be great.

Fuck, Introversion needs to keep working on Defcon and stop working on shitty ports of old (but still good) games. Defcon would have been out already if they'd keep focus.

GIVE ME DEFCON!!!

yeh bcuz its liek totaly xboxes fualt taht thei didnt rlease tath one yet

These are rumors. Maybe they're just putting more time into Defcon. Even if this was true, they're the ones releasing the game, they get to choose if their games need a console port or not. Besides, it's not like a game like Uplink would work with another control scheme (because that's what makes console ports shitty, right). If they do decide to port it, it's going to have the same controls it had on pc, since you can't play a text based game without a keyboard.

Uplink was a blast, I never tried Darwinia. May be worth checking out.

Game Head is the show that actually "broke" this news back in April. It's an intelligent, well written show with plenty of inside information and good reviews which explains why Spike TV airs it at 12:30 in the morning on Saturdays.

Alex, any chance their's a podcast version of that or clips of it, like G4 does with several of their shows?

I haven't seen that particular episode up anywhere. I know that Game Trailers (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamehead.php) has some the older shows so it might pop up there eventually. The episode was taped at the GDC and featured an interview between Geoff, Cliff Bleszinski and Mark Morris from the Darwinia team. At one point the camera caught Mark mentioning to Cliff that Introversion was talking to Microsoft about getting Darwinia on Live Arcade for the 360. (No, I didn't remember all that off the top of my head. Gmail's search feature to the rescue.)

Many brain cells died bringing you this link (http://www.spiketv.com/#shows/gamehead/index.jhtml) which is last week's show. Hopefully it works because I wouldn't recommend navigating Spike's website for any serious length of time.

Darwinia on a console would be great. I can't see any major problem with transitioning it as it would still keep the same feel as the PC version, I'd expect.

I agree with the others that Uplink on a console would be a very different beast. Half of the fun of playing Uplink on a PC is that you are essentially LARPing while playing the game. There you are, hunched over your keyboard furiously tapping away and clicking on applications while seeing the exact same screen that your ingame persona would see. Doing that with a controller on a TV while slouched on the couch? Just doesn't resonate the same with me.

And Spike should not be breaking game news. Just wrong... So very wrong. Trek news, sure, but not game news... At least not game news as esoteric as this.

I'd really like to know what goes on in the brains of the execs at the various networks. G4 no longer focuses on games, Spike is breaking game news and Sci-Fi channel has Law & Order. BWAAA?!
