Selling dead 360, but...

Okay I'm a dummy when it comes to this stuff so can anyone here answer this for me. I have a 360 I planned on selling to a friend and it just died. Now, he still wants it and is still willing to buy it from me for scrap or whatever and that's cool, but I'm NOT replacing it; I made the decision that I'm DONE with XBL and I canceled auto-renewal already, but what about safety precautions or anything else I might be overlooking before I give the dead 360 to him? I assume if I don't give him the HD (normally I would, but the damn thing is DEAD so I can't wipe the HD clean)then I don't need to worry about anything regarding my account/Gamertag as is? Just making sure. Is there anything else I should do at this point? Sounds stupid but I just wanna be sure I'm not missing anything I should be doing now that I'm officially done with XBL.

As long as nobody knows your password you don't have to worry about it; case in point...play uno naked. No I'm not being a smart ass srsly. Borrow a 360 and do as I say. Bonus points if you get a hooker/girlfriend and you scar some 12 year olds mind while playing online while they say dicktits! God I hate xbox live...you will NEVER have to worry about somebody using your now BANNED CANCELLED and DELETED account. Now srsly... either ask in the xbox live official forums and tell em you are done with the 360 or do what I said and go down in trolling legend... I'd do it but I'm hoping that next gen I can RE-download the games-add ons I have already bough if not I am so gonna be a PC gamer (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cheap)til I die. Also he could use your profile to re-download things you have already bought...and delete your credit cards.

That's why I'm asking. I remember hearing something about shit that somehow stays on your system despite the HD. Sounds bullshit, I just want to make absolutely sure, that's all. So I keep the HD and everything is all okely-dokely?

Just find someone with a working 360 and the HDD USB adapter and have them wipe it for you. Super simple, super quick, super secure.

Well he doesn't know my password, lol. As far as "left it in the internal memory," hell... I couldn't say. You'd have to give me an example of a way this can be done to refresh my memory.

As far as actually wiping my HD... no problem, but if this is possibly an internal issue as you suggest, then obviously that wouldn't matter, right? Or I could just NOT give him the HD as I suggested in the first place, lol.

By default (or my 2+ year old xbox anyway) the first time I made my account it was saved on the internal memory (memory unit) not the hardrive. If you moved it to your hardrive however you don't have to worry about it.

Ugh. I have no idea if I did any such thing and really have no way of knowing. Fuck, I guess I'll have to bring my HD to my friend's house and check. How can you tell for sure when you get to your settings?
