Ironclad (http://www.ironcladgames.com/) has released the first trailer for their 4X space strategy game and it's available here (http://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/trailers.html)

The independent Trader Worlds must unite and form the Trader Emergency Coalition to defend themselves against the return of their exiled brethren, "The Advent" and the arrival of the desperate remnants of the ancient Vasari Empire.

The intention of Sins of a Solar Empire is to be as much the beginning of an epic science fiction saga as it is an evolutionary real time strategy game. This concept is strongly supported by both online and in-game artwork, sound and music, and a plot that extends well beyond the arc exposed in this title.

Loved the trailer. Lots of epic space action with huge capital ships that fire large über beams of death.

This looks very cool to me. I really like 4x space strategy but they are ALWAYS turn based. This looks as if it is fully real time with the great bonus (finally) of having battles happening at the same time at different locations. My major peave with Empire at War (in general) is that it doesn't allow battles to happen at the very same time. A conflict to the scale of a galaxy waits for no one.

Brilliant, I've been following this one ever since I heard of it. It immediately gave me an impression of a slimline, slick design.

Edit: Don't use the torrent. The FTP download is much faster and unlikely to be flooded.

This game looks excellent however, whats 4x (am I just being spacey again?)
It looks like it might be a lot like Homeworld, if this is so. I'm definatly gonna buy it.

I really...don't see what benefit this would have had. The game required far too much micro to handhold the retarded unit UI to have more than one fight going. Especially on a planet.

This is key as to why I said "In General". I would have rather had the game operate in true real time. I wasn't specificly saying if how the game's unit AI would have worked out because as you and I know, especially on planets, it does stink. This game, though, is finally a good step in a true real time based 4x game. It is a long time coming too. All we got left is a combination of a Supreme Commander style game with this one. That would be truely magnificant and I believe to be capabile in the very near future.

This game looks excellent however, whats 4x (am I just being spacey again?)4X refers to a genre of strategy game, where the four main points are exploration, extermination, expansion, and extortion (?). Not necessarily in that order.

Think Civilization, Alpha Centauri, Galactic Civilization, etc.

It has the title of legends, but as soon as I hear cigarette-scarred voices and potentous music I get scared.

It'll have to work a great deal harder to impress me more than Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. That game was incredible.
