I knew MS DOS 5 and windows 3 & 3.1 onwards but had never heard of windows 1.0. I just thought they started windows from 3.0. :D

Nice! This is why MS continues to have the leading OS. They continue to expand what the OS can do, while trying to maintain compatibility with old software. From a business owners stand point this is great. The businesses don’t have to spend tons of money to upgrade off the shelf or custom software. This also makes it possible for businesses to get more life out of there hardware.

I remember Windows 1 and 2. Back then I was pretty hardcore anti-ms, anti-intel. I was running an Amiga 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga) when Windows 3 was released. Of course Comodore went under and the Amiga went the way of the Dodo and now I'm a Windows System administrator. lol. A great machine/OS like that going under is why I never bought into the Linux craze.
