According to an article on Nintendo Insider (http://nintendoinsider.com/), there are four titles that have joined the ranks of Players' Choice Series (http://nintendoinsider.com/site/EEuAApVkVuCbMHPBFo.php) at the MSRP of $19.99. The four titles are The Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures, StarFox Assault, Pikmin 2 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

I thought I've seen a few of these titles already at the $19.99 price point. In any case they are now at a MSRP of $19.99 and have the official Nintendo Players' Choice cover markings

I wish fuckin' Mario Tennis would become a player's choice. It's so good, but I want it for 30!

I'm pretty sure this was reported a month ago. I bought Paper Mario because of it.

Would it kill Nintendo to get some good RPG's? like Baldurs gate n such.

Thought about getting paper mario, looks real cute (Also looks like it may be a real time-sucker, so I've been avoiding it).

Like, Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance, Legend of Zelda, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, and Paper Mario?

Zelda games are not an RPGs by any stretch of the imagination. I would call them adventure games. A game like Resident Evil 4 is more of an RPG than Zelda.

RPG is the dumbest fucking name for a genre, ever. 90% of all videogames have you PLAYING the ROLE of someone. Duck Hunt is an RPG. I am role playing a hunter.

That is true if you take the meaning of each individual word, not the meaning of the entire statement within the context of games. The logic you have displayed ultimately renders all genres pointless. I am not saying that is necessarily a bad thing, but I am pointing out that genres need to be taken within the proper context.

Of course I can not refute the idea that all genres are pointless, especially as games become far more complex and continue to encompass multiple fields. I mean, what is GTA? I guess action, but that seems too limited given the scope of the franchise.

I think I'll finally get around to picking up Paper Mario now. I love cheap stuff...

Kickass gif Reanimated. Looks better than anything I have seen on the PS3. Yes, that includes MGS4 until it has been shown playable and allowed to be scrutinized. Gears of War was playable and online at E3. And remember that Kojima himself said that MGS4 is entirely possible on the 360.

Unfortunately, the mindless drones are still following their Sony overlords. Yesterday at work we got our first 360s in (electronics is not our focus, so we are low on the totem) and 3 out of four people said that they were waiting for the PS3. When I asked why, the consensus was that it would be better, but none of them could explain their answer. Sigh.

I somewhat agree. RE4 had more inventory interaction than the Zelda games did, though some Zelda games actually had quests, rather than just 'wander around oh look a dungeon' as most of them were.

Also, unless I was playing a different version of the game, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance was pretty crap. It was like an unfun version of Gauntlet.

Don't forget Skies of Arcadia - one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. Anyways, I'd better pick up SFA and Pikmin2 while I can find them without the yellow "Player's Choice" banner.

Great news, I've wanted to pick up Paper Mario 2 for ages but it and so many other GC games have been, and still are, stuck at full price since release.
Even games like Baten Kaitos which have been out for, literally, years, are not only full price but hard to find under £32.99 which is like new release pricing.

While the Cube is hardly an RPG powerhouse, I'd say that between Skies of Arcadia, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario, Baldur's Gate, Phantasy Star Online (offline), Baten Kaitos, and the two X-Men Legends games, there's a decent amount of high-quality games to choose from. As mentioned by someone else, Skies of Arcadia is fantastic, as is Paper Mario. The X-Men Legends games are pretty sweet, and PSO is great is you have people to play with.

There are a few smaller-scale titles too (wasn't there a Summoner game on Cube?) that I haven't played, but the above list is respectable, in my opinion. Hopefully the Wii will be graced with a broader selection, though.

Anyone have any opinions on Starfox Assault? I still have a bad taste from Starfox Adventures in my mouth, but I've heard it's nothing like that, back to the old school ship combat.

I've heard that it has SOME old school ship combat and a lot of crappy tank combat... I'm not sure if there is any on-foot combat but from what I hear it's rather disappointing how little actual ship combat there is.

I haven't played it myself though, but that was the buzz back in the day.

Everyone needs to play Paper Mario 2. Such a great RPG. And Zelda isn't an RPG in my book. Amazing action adventure, yes. RPG? I don't qualify it as such.

A quick review of two of the games:

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Grade: A
I loved this game. There is a lot of dialogue, but it's almost always really clever and humorous. The graphics and the whole paper concept come together very well and create some really interesting gameplay situations (although quite a few rather familiar ones, if you played Paper Mario on the N64). I'm not a very big Mario fan, actually, but this game was just a joy to play all the way through. I bought the game with reasonable expectations and it exceeded them.

Pikmin 2
Grade: B
A really fun and unique strategy game with some great ideas. The only reason it's not an A is because it has too many repetetive cave environments. They should have added a couple of additional outdoor areas instead.

To anyone who has played Zelda: Four Swords, is this any good in Singleplayer?

PAper mario 2 is one of the greatest RPGs of this generation. It has the most varied and fun gameplay. It has that "What's coming next?!" appeal that RPGs now are missing. One minute you're fighting in a tournament, the next solving a mystery. Utterly brilliant and should not be missed by anyone.
Star Fox Assault is also very very good. The tank and on foot parts are passable, but multiplayer is great. GEtting shot down doesn't mean you die, you still can survive and find a new vehicle. Each vehicle has its own strengths and weaknesses. Even being on foot lets you cap people with a sniper rifle.

Paper Mario 2 at $20 should be illegal.

I'm just now playing through it again for the second time and having a ball. some good LOL moments.

The 2 Pikmin games are some of my favorite experiences this generation. Glad to see Pikmin 2 drop in price. If you like unique gaming experiences, you should definitely try it. There isn't anything else like it available today.

I would like to see Nintendo move Pikmin into the next generation. DS and Wii could provide some really interesting interface possibilities.

I think I would have liked Paper Mario more if I hadn't played Partners in Time first. The less interactive combat really killed it for me. Also, I think they tried to make it too much like a standard JRPG with Mario characters. I'm sure I would dig it if I was a bigger fan of standard JRPGs.

I have both Paper Mario:TYD and Pikmin 2, and I've got to say that this is quite a bargain. If you have a GC and don't own these, grab them now.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but what console is it that has all the Baldur's Gate level RPGs? I'm pretty sure it's not the PS2, and I know it's not the 360... even the PC hasn't been doing so well.

That is just it...they already knew. The fucking thing is going for 650 up here. By the time sales taxes are added it is 720. Throw in a single game and it is 800. Fucking nuts.

Until the end of June EB Games has a deal where you can trade in you XBOX and get 100 bucks off a 360. Probably what I am going to do.

No one is going to buy the PS3, not your friends, not the Japanese, nobody. Six hundred dollars will buy a lot of crack. Which is what anyone who wants a PS3 is smoking.

Playstation's not selling a gaming console in the PS3, they're selling a cheap Blu-Ray player.

So are the people who buy it for that reason alone idiots? I don't think so.

Even though I think that Blu-Ray is already dead in the water.

Whatever.

Four Swords single player is pretty fun and I'd say worth the $20. I never did finish it, but I keep meaning to go back. It doesn't have lots of replayability and it's a little short, but if you want Zelda dungeon puzzles condensed into short, fun little bursts then it's worth your time and $20.

I wouldn't call that idiotic, I'd call it people with good jobs. What's your excuse? :D

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

For me, that's one of the appeals of your average JRPG. You get the opportunity to play a (usually) well crafted story with fun battle sequences, nifty exploration and often some pretty snazzy cutscenes as icing on the narrative cake.
