View Full Version : Evil Avatar Radio Episode 17: Postponement

Episode 17 of the Evil Avatar Radio podcast (http://www.evilavatarradio.com), originally slated for recording tonight, must sadly be postponed. This is in large part (as in 100%) due to some crappy bug that has got my throat and voice all messed up today. The interview with Simon Carless that was scheduled to air will be released in the podcast stream next week as usual, and we will probably doing a roundtable, so still lots of content to look forward to. Hopefully I'll still see everyone at next week's live show with a special guest host so top-secret even NICK FURY doesn't know about it. Stay tuned, true believers.
Hope I haven't ruined anyone's Friday night! :(

I think I might have to cry myself to sleep tonight... I was actually going to be able to make this one after two straight weeks of missing it due to social obligations.
That's okay Kef, just get better... I had this throat thing that had me sick for a few weeks and it was a bitch. Hopefully you don't have the same thing! :D

Nick Fury knows all and sees all. Silly Kef. :p
But still, I was kinda looking forward to it, but at least it means I don't have to stay up 22 hours in one day. The comic banter shall have to wait.
Get well soon Kef, I got a bad throat myself. :)

Well I guess I'll just go to bed early tonight then. Haven't done much of that sleep thing the last couple weeks due to a crunch. That ends today though and I'm coming out of it the same way Nick Fury walks off a battlefield, battered, beaten, and vitorious.
Seriously though, get better, because I already see another battle looming after this weekend.

Yeah, I'll maybe be gaming some tonight, but I hope I get some hardcore sleeping done this weekend. Pretty sure lack of sleep is prolly why my throat's all messed.

I concur. You're only truly sick when you don't have any urge to game. Faker!
Ah well. I was looking forward to the show tonight but now that it's cancelponed I can actually do a bit of work and then play Star Ocean all night instead of cooling my heels in the office waiting for the show to start.
Hope you don't have The Brood incubating in your innards a la Johnny Storm.

I'm not sick -- my throat is fucked up. Very big difference, and having a messed up throat is obviously much less helpful for doing a radio show than it is to playing a game. That said, I still don't know if I'll get much gaming done tonight. Totally drained of energy too.
Hope you don't have The Brood incubating in your innards a la Johnny Storm.

I have actually been struck down with some kind of evil plague several times. I used to get sick almost every year around mid-March/early-April with something that left me drained and barely able to move from the bed to the couch for a week. It drove me nuts because while I had a week off work those times I was in such pain and agony that playing games had no appeal to me. That's how I knew I was sick.
Thankfully I haven't had that nasty a bout of nogamingitis in a year or two, but that's probably because I'm adjusting to life as a parent and the powers that be realize that I have little enough time to game as it is these days :)
All of you non-married, non-parental types, enjoy your free gaming time while you can... oh, how I miss it :)

The stack I got includes:
Green Lantern:Rebirth #6
Green Lantern #1, 10, 11
Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #4, 5
Ion #1, 2
52 weeks 1-5
Amazing Spiderman #531, 532
Civil War #1
Civil War Fronline #1
My pull list includes:
Green Lantern
Green Lanter Corps
Ion
52
Amazing Spiderman
Civil War
I'm thinking of adding some more to it as it is heavy on the GL side. Maybe some Batman or some Ultimate stuff. I'll have to add more to it eventually anyway once Civil War and 52 are done since they have 5 book minimum.

You need to get Ultimate Fantastic Four and Green Arrow on that list. They're both great. I never really cared for the 616 FF, but UFF is very cool (it's got ZOMBIES!)

Yeah. I made the mistake this week of taking my credit card for a walk (hey, my wife was in Houston for the week) and ended up $120 poorer after a quick trip to the comic shop. Stupid trades... GLA: Misassembled is a hoot though.

My favorites used to be Preacher, Watchmen, 200AD, etc... Where should I (re)start?
BTW, my little brother sold all my comics shortly after I moved to the USA - without my permission. :(

Are you at all interested in superhero comics or are you more in the mood for regular folk in wierd situation ones? It sounds a little more like the latter to me. Testament, Exterminators and The Walking Dead are all great, as are the Transmetropolitan trades.

A man who favours green? Heh, I'm afraid I'm the same way. I really wanna find a series where Question is the main character, but he always seems to be in bit roles... although I do like the fact he is featured in 52 so nicely.

I do indeed have a predisposition towards the green, even have the tattoo to prove it. I've never known much about The Question, probably mostly due to his bit roles.
Fits, if you like superhero stuff at all I would suggest Civil War and 52 as good ways back in. They're both part of the reason I've finally started again, getting the itch for it at the same time as two major events in the comic world. I was going to start again when the Crisis stuff started, but I missed the boat on it so I'll be catching that in trade.

Kef: Being sick sucks, but at least it's not food poisoning. The single worst illness I ever had, just last summer. I thought I was going to die, and I live alone. I almost paid a homeless man to put me out of my misery.

5-book minimum? That's a strange (and weak) rule. Glad you hopped on 52, though. Manage to get all the back issues alright?
Someone help me get back into comics! I used to buy craploads of them before moving to the USA, but I'm now so far out of touch...
Start visiting our weekly comic threads. We'll get you back in right quick. As far as recommendations go, 52 seems to be the place to go for finding out about DC right now and Civil War's the big Marvel thingy.
I really wanna find a series where Question is the main character, but he always seems to be in bit roles... although I do like the fact he is featured in 52 so nicely.
Well, he is one of the main characters of 52, as you downplayed. And also, there's a ton of rumors that he'll be getting a Greg Rucka ongoing after 52 wraps up.
I'm most definately getting that if I can find it.
I got it. It's fantastic. Still need to pick up the GLA trade though.

True. It's not the worse sickness I could have at all. Allergy meds seem to be helping somewhat too. Coupled with some sleep, should be better fast. Also, I'm not getting a DS Lite because I already have a DS, but sadly that's currently with Amanda. She's buying me New Super Mario Bros. though!

Are you kidding? The only way they could've made it easier was if week 5 wasn't on the new release wall. There was half an entire rack at the end of one aisle with nothing but 52 on it. In fact, I had 1-4 in hand before I even made it to the new release wall. I agree the 5 book thing is a bit lame, but they do give a discount to subscribers on anything "readable and comic related". Plus I was going to have 4 books just to keep track of GL and company.
