According to Xequted.com (http://www.xequted.com/news/2106/tetris-heads-to-xbox-360.html), Tetris is coming to the Xbox 360, probably as a Live Arcade game.

Courtesy of THQ, we'll be seeing a Tetris game on Xbox 360 in the US and Europe very soon. The news comes after THQ have reportedly come to an agreement with The Tetris Company which previously meant they could only publish the game in Japan, where it has been out since the Xbox 360's launch last December.

THQ's most recent financial report shows they've settled things with The Tetris Company after a dispute last year following a break of contract that would have meant a release on Nintendo DS. This has since been done by Nintendo anyway, helping to clear up the matter. And for the memories (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyLN0kU_Ths&search=tetris%20commercial)...

There needs to be a version of Tetrinet (http://www.tetrinet.org) for XBLA

I have never heard of Xequted before but the wording of that news story is so incomprehensible its almost surreal.

"The news comes after THQ have reportedly come to an agreement with The Tetris Company which previously meant they could only publish the game in Japan, where it has been out since the Xbox 360's launch last December."

Does this mean THQ previously had an agreement with The Tetris Company that allowed them to publish Tetris on the Xbox 360 in Japan, but have since reached a new agreement to publish Tetris elsewhere?

"THQ's most recent financial report shows they've settled things with The Tetris Company after a dispute last year following a break of contract that would have meant a release on Nintendo DS. This has since been done by Nintendo anyway, helping to clear up the matter."

What?

I'm not trying to be an asshole, just genuinely curious about the backstory here.

What the hell? Is that a saloon PEE-Anie.
I wish I could play a piano; I have a grand version in my head that I substitute when playing the game.

Tetris DS sold like crazy...

Why... I mean do you need permission to sell tetris anymore...

Somehow, I believe THQ has managed to screw up every version of Tetris they have released thus far (muddy controls, obscure rules, and lots of CG and backstory garbage). Hopefully this time they learn to just leave it alone.

Ever play tetris-sphere on N64? Now that was something awful.

I LOVED Tetrisphere. 2-player was seriously intense, and the music was great.

I would buy Tetris for Xbox Live Arcade in a heartbeat, no questions asked.

I would have a question first...

Does it have 8-player multiplayer? I've had Tetris running on the DS in groups of 8 people and it is downright amazing!

:D

That'd just be icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

I would buy Tetris on Live, headset down...but only if it was the NES version.

I know where I'll be getting that, though. ;)

This is obviously going to be a retail 360 game. So that means its going to be 40 dollars? FOR TETRIS? This shit better be 10 bucks.

Me too! Tetris on the DS is my favorite version of all-time. The multiplayer from a single cart means everyone can get in on the fun.

It's obviously going to be a retail game? If it's retail, I probably will not buy it, but as a Live Arcade game, I'd DEFINITELY purchase.

Tetrinet sucks. The power ups make the game way too chaotic, and without powerups it's just bland. Though, it is free I guess. Tetris DS is much better, with powerups that actually fit the gameplay.

Blasphemy! I loved Tetrisphere. Played that so much. It's my favorite game to play on my modded Xbox with an N64 emulator.

To me it has a bit of Lumines vibe, where you just sorta zone out and enjoy the music and try to string together massive combos. A round could last half an hour.

Two player isn't bad either.

Then the same company, H20, who was based in my home town Calgary, made The New Tetris which is the best incarnation of the game ever. One of the most popular games to play at parties here still.

Then they moved to Vancouver and released a crappy RPG and, I think, went out of business.

The game was a retail launch title in Japan.
