I like being succinct, so I'll cut right to the chase.

I've been wanting to stretch my artistic muscles for quite a while and want to tackle some sort of comic project. While my heart gravitates more toward a comic book-type format, I'd be willing to work on some sort of web comic bullcrap as well.
I've been drawing for the better part of my 26 years and, while I'm nowhere near fantastic, I feel I'm definitely serviceable and certainly wouldn't mind the opportunity to force myself into drawing nigh-constantly. I also enjoy writing...but herein lies my problem; I don't want to tackle both ends of a project.

As such, I need a writer.

Im not a fantastic writer.. so I won't opt myself for that role. However, you don't have to bea great artist to have a successful web-comic. It's more about filling a niche. Good luck.

Can you draw mice?

Yeah. Sure. Why not?

I can draw mice.

Get a team. An editor as well.

I'm more worried about getting something off the ground, first.

What genres would you like to draw?

I write scifi, fantasy, and want to get into some horror too. Graphic novels are a hot prospect nowadays.

Have you ever worked off a script? Do you work digitally, like in Illustrator or PS, or in paper? Do you have any art samples to get an idea of style?

Willing to go as far as having it published and stocked on shelves or is this a just-for-fun project?

My old screenwriter professor writes now for a graphic-novel company, I could get a hold of them easily enough. It's a fairly easy field to get into right now and is expanding heavily.

Send me a link (PM) with some of your samples. I have these neat stories involving mice I have always wanted to see illustrated (or comic book?).

A story I've been slowly developing over the past few years is an odd blend of fantasy and sci-fi.

I've worked off of a script a few times, but they were all from a friend who had some great ideas...but the actual writing aspect left much to be desired. His dialogue was okay, but he couldn't spell to save his life; interpreting them was rather difficult. I've dabbled in working digitally, but I currently can't do that right now; while I'm sure I could...acquire...a copy of Photoshop or Illustrator easily enough, I'm currently without a drawing tablet. Over the course of a few moves since '08, I'm missing a few things...amongst them is, conveniently, my old Wacom tablet. I've also lost the lion's share of my work over the years as well. So, currently, I'm stuck with good ol' fashioned pencil and paper...and no scanner.

Samples will be difficult to get, but I really want to get some out there.

My ultimate goal is to get published, although you could probably classify this current attempt to find a writer as more of a "just-for-fun" project with the possibility of attempting to make some actual money off of it down the road.

Samples will be forthcoming...somehow!

Oh. You were serious?

I don't currently have any rodent-based pictures, but I'll see what I can do.

Maybe scan something in and toss it up on Deviantart.com

I'm working on two high-concept scifi and fantasy stories right now. Hit you up when I've got one about ready.

What style are we talking about? Fantasy? Sci-Fi? Pirates? Dare I say...ZOMBIES?

Sounded like Evil was talking about a kid's story >_> Zombie-mice would be funny tho :P They can run around yelling, "Brrrrrrrrriiiiiiiieeeeeee..." :P

Knowing Anenome...something cyberpunk.
The first one is a modern-day fantasy story, bit of magical realism crossed with James Bond :P

The next story after this one is cyberpunkish, a bit biopunk too perhaps. But the opening scene is extremely visually striking.

I do this series of stories that is a little bit like a cross between Watership Down and Mouse Guard. One of the stories, Double Lepus, will be published in a few weeks in an anthology called Horrorology.

I always thought these stories would work better as a comic book or as illustrated text.

I know some people at Dark Horse comics if you decide it is something you wanted to work with me on.

However, if you would prefer to work on something with Zombies, I'm sure I can do that too! I know a little something about the subject.

Mouse Guard is quite good fun and I used to love Watership Down as a child.

Also, you know folks at Dark Horse? Sign me the hell up, I'll get you some samples posted as soon as I toss together some mouse sketches and find a way to get them in a digital format.

I may have to MacGuyver myself together a scanner.

I'm not sure if my style would mesh well with your story, but I'd certainly love to take a look at them anyway!
It'll help when I can get some examples posted...
I can as least describe my overall style.

I'm not formally trained, but I've been plugging away at drawing since my early childhood. I'm not a fan of realism in any sense of the term; I definitely love more cartoony, strange and generally unrealistic characters and designs. I tend to adhere to an anatomy that is essentially correct, but it's definitely exaggerated and, if necessary, completely thrown out the window if the characters or story demands it.

You can't go wrong with mice. Did you read that Brian Jacques died a few days ago? I haven't read all the books, but I love the idea of animal kingdom books.

I do collect Mouse Guard, but I haven't been into The Mice Templar yet.

Yes, I have a couple of minor industry contacts in publishing including Dark Horse. I think I could spin that into an opportunity to submit samples for a comic.

Yeah, I heard about Jacques. I grew up with the Red Wall series, so that was a little odd to hear.
There's something endearing about stories like those. It could certainly be fun to draw, at any rate.

Super-quick update:

I managed to find my old Intuos2 tablet, so I tossed together a very rough, very quick sketch of a character I created a couple years ago.
I call him Hank.

Yeah...not much to write home about, I suppose. Still getting reacquainted with drawing on my tablet. I've also lost virtually all of my Photoshop Fu, too...so, it was a trip.
Don't be too harsh...

He's actually a demon. Yes, he's supposed to look fairly small and relatively non-threatening. He's one of the lead characters in this big story I've been brewing since 2005.

Anyway, here's a little brain fart...

I know I'm tardy to the party but damn it sucks that Jacques died; I too grew up on Redwall and its stalwart rodents.

Also, I like your demon, Chimpbot. It looks passive-aggressive-dissociative in a Jhonen Vasquez sort of way.

It's never too late to join the party.

Yeah, I get the Vasquez comparisons a lot...which is a little unfortunate. I started developing that style before I was really introduced to his comics.
