Or tomorrow morning (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=10am+Pacific+Time)... or whatever, I didn't make you live there.

WebOS has always been called a slick mobile operating system anchored down by awful hardware and now we have HP / Palm doing a media tease of new kit. A strong comeback on the cards? (har, bad joke for any WebOS fans there.)

And I am back, busy with work and vacation..
That event was no slouch in my opinion. WebOS may become the middle market contender if they can keep up momentum and interest. I get the impression it will become the OS that offers the smoothness of operation that iOS has while opening up more flexibility as Android does so well.
Could this become the OS of choice for people who do not want Apple lockdown but also dislike the unreliability of current Android?

I like the look of those WebOS tablets (I won't be getting a WebOS phone, love WP7), but I think they made a mistake by not pulling an apple. They should have had a show and then said "btw these will be available in 30 days".
I liked what I saw, but if I was in the market for a tablet it wouldn't prevent me from getting an iPad or Android tablet.

I have the same feeling in that respect, but they do seem to be shaping up in that respect, I think many companies are noticing that it is no good being all stuffy in their keynotes if you want to excite the crowds. Timing will hopefully improve later on.
I am quite set on getting an Android 3 tablet, perhaps the Samsung given the lightness of the build, but am somewhat curious about WebOS now. It would seem silly to buy one given my heavy use of Google services though. I am going to finish up some articles (ha, yes, articles) for my site/here and ask HP for a review unit. A Veer or something. Not a bias OS type so with luck they will enjoy having a nerd pore over their new kit.
Perhaps I can even do something interesting for EvAv if so ;)
Windows Phone 7 though. I was tempted to pick one up to see if it is possible for a person who only has OS X machines and uses Google services to actually get by with one. It looks like the system has a lot of potential, but right now how is it treating you?

You just described my mom and she loves her Samsung Focus (sold her iPhone 4 on ebay).
WP7 is perfect for my needs -- I use Gmail, Windows 7, have a Zune Sub, Xbox Live. I had an iPhone 3GS prior to WP7 and just really enjoy the UI. The phone flows well, I find I can navigate it more quickly than I could my iPhone. I just plain like using it more than my iPhone and the Android devices I have tried (Droid, Droid 2 and Droid X).
It isn't perfect -- but I think it will be close once Mango is released (IE9, full multitasking, etc...)

What I want to see most is the decoupling of Windows from Microsoft products. I have heard this echoed in Engadget podcasts recently too.. I'm not against Windows I just have no use for it anymore, and there are lots of us with different OS's of choice now. Windows Audio 9 was actually a fairly decent codec which was sadly saddled on the rather horrible container WMA which got little support in the wider world. Same for VC1, great codec with a bad container.
Windows Phone 7 just turns some people off I think and that is a shame given the clear effort their team are making. Microsoft Phone 7 would sound like something an OS X user could pick up and enjoy. Apple were smart in not attaching their OS to the brand quite so heavily, Windows user? Most iPhone users probably are!
I suppose Google (at least one part of that mad Octopus) is going in the right direction of platform agnostic web applications. Interoperability of platforms is becoming more of an issue than ever.
