PC Gaming Not Dead; PS3 May Lose Lead (in Ireland)

Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) has published some excerpts from an Irish Times interview with Niall O'Hanrahan, Sony Computer Entertainment Ireland's managing director, in which he claims that Sony have work to do to retain their formidable console lead.

In an interview with The Irish Times, Sony Computer Entertainment Ireland managing director Niall O'Hanrahan has adopted a more unassuming tone than many recent Sony executives, indicating that "We would never say we cannot fail".

O’Hanrahan admitted that Sony faces serious competition in the next generation console race and that the PlayStation 3 is not guaranteed to be the market leader. "We have a marketing challenge from now until launch. This is not a done deal. It will require a lot of effort from us," he suggested.
Finally, someone from Sony admitting that their lead is not unassailable. How long before he's forced to say that he was misquoted and that Sony's lead is assured with the PS3? Ahem.

BTW PC gaming is much, much healthier in EU than in US. In countries like Germany, Poland, Russia, Finland, Sweden etc. PC games sell even better than PS2 games, and I'm not talking about Sims but BF2, WoW, Hitman (!!!) etc. - quality stuff.

Actually, I look at this as a positive Sony post. Frankly, Sony has done alot of trash talking to the press that... well, make for good news postings. This is however a much more... well, balanced comment from someone inside Sony. If more Sony press releases exercised this amount of humility, alot of peoples desire to bash on them ( atleast as much... ) would go away.
