View Full Version : Sega x Bleach = Wii?

Not sure what this (http://bleach.sega.jp/wii/) is all about. Is it a Japanese Samurai Laundry Simulator? Or the next great thing in hair color products?
Only time will tell.
Update: Word on the street is it's a game based on an Anime series. My vote is still for laundry simulator. Think of the possibilities with the Wii-mote and the spin cycle!

A samauri laundry simulator would rock, until Jack Thompson comes around shouting about teaching kids to slice up their clothes.
What would rock is using the wiimote to snap a towel on the butt cheek of the town bully, striking his weak point for Massive Daaammmmaaage!

Naruto is the new DBZ. Non-Anime people will brand you as nerd, and many Otaku will scorn you, and rightfuly so.
Bleach is alright though. Haven't started the anime, but I've been reading the manga. There's a Bleach PSP game out in Japan that's supposed to be awsome.

Naruto was huge for several years, and still is to a degree, but there is a problem with the show. Naruto and Bleach are both based off of pre-existing manga(comic book) series' and the important character developement, story arcs, and deaths occur in those comics.
Naruto for the first 135 episodes was mostly all that good story arc stuff, then they decided to just go and make over a year of filler episodes that is just people beating people up and such, no advancement of the story. This has given people good reason to move on to other series.
Bleach is much newer, its first 63 or 64 episodes were the fun story arc stuff that isn't filler for the most part, since it's much newer and was giving good stories and episodes while naruto was giving "crap" a lot of fans moved over to Bleach. There are new fun episodes of Naruto coming though, including a DC comics-esque year-jumping(3 or 4 years in this case though) that changes a lot of things.
The funny thing is, from what I can tell, most people who enjoy these two shows either dislike or hate the "kids crap" that is dragon ball z. I tried watching 2 episodes of that crap and thought it was awful, that's just me of course, but comparing that to these shows is like comparing the Buffy movie to the Buffy tv show, Batman & Robin to Batman Begins, New Coke to Coke Classic.
Bleach and Naruto have actually brought a lot of anti-anime friends of mine into actually enjoying some anime here and there, they aren't your father's anime series....

Naruto > Bleach, imho. Better stories, better characters, better everything, better filler(cough, cough, cough).
Only part I really like about Bleach is whenever she tries to draw a picture to explain something to the lead character. If you watch it, you know what I'm talking about, lol.

I find it endlessly amusing how people here find the concept of anime so repulsive. Granted I don't watch alot of it, but in general, how anyone on a video-game website can claim exemption from the label of a nerd or a geek is one of the funnier examples of denial that I've seen or heard in a while.
BTW, Berserk is/was an awesome anime and they should have brought that PS2 version overseas.

I personally can't wait for this, having downloaded the PSP Bleach game (even though it was lackluster)... Bleach is still the only anime I've stuck with for the last two years. I tried Speed Grapher, GunXSword, Trinity Blood, blood+, and others but I just couldn't stick with em past about 4 episodes. Bleach is now in a nasty filler story arc that really sucks some serious ass, but around the time it begins airing in the US (please don't fuck it up) the manga arc will be continued. I would have preferred they had stuck with a 24 or 48 or even 72 episode run, but we are well over 80 now with at least another 50 worth of manga to wade through.

Naruto/Bleach are both stuck in this gay ass filler arc shit. Naruto is on like 30-40 weeks of filler at this point, I don't know what Bleach is at. Either way they're both rather good anime.

Somehow watching a show with over-the-top plots, large breatsed women, guys with big swords, kung-fu moves, huge guns and magic/spells is less cool than playing a game with over-the-top plots, large breatsed women, guys with big swords, kung-fu moves, huge guns and magic/spells.
I look forward to seeing Bleach on the Wii. I really hope that you won't need to slash the controller for every move and at the very least Nintendo/Sega will throw in some default standard controller settings. I did not know about that NDS game I will definetely be buying that one. And yes Berserk rocked hard, I was very sorry that the 2nd volume was never developed into anime.

I have the Bleach fighting game on the Gamecube and while its not nearly as polished or deep as Naruto 4, once the play mechanics are understood to a degree, its pretty fun. Restricted to 2 player fighting on the Gamecube, however, is a downer. Bleach's "supers" are also just a bunch of pictures strewn together with effects flying around so that was not cool too >_>. Having played all sorts of fighting games, I still favor the Guilty Gear series as my favorite.
Come to think of it....Sega made the Gamecube Bleach game. Its cel-shaded like Naruto is.

Hilarious. I havn't much liked the new anime's. I think I stopped watching after I finished Trigun.
I just don't like the way they are all sort of going the way of DBZ, too much talking.
However I don't see anyone who still watches anime as "more nerdy" than me. But let's be honest, if your here. You are considered by the masses to be a nerd/dork/geek or all of the above. Just embrace your title!
Oh and btw, if you read comic books...You have no right to say anything about people who watch anime...Your a nerd too. Get a pocket protector and accept your nerdom like the rest of us!

I'm not a huge anime fan, at least the series stuff. It tends to be lots of filler, and though I think I'll enjoy an episode or two of a show, after fifteen minutes of watching or less my attention gets drawn away.
One really good anime that I've seen is Full Metal Alchemist. I like the art, the story, and the premise. The characters are very cool, too.
The movies, those tend to friggin' rock. It's all about conclusion, man, and I like conclusion. When anime is forced to end somehow without 100 weeks of side story stuff (this is why I am waiting until Lost jumps the shark before I pick up the DVDs--I want a story to tie together and not keep going and going) it makes for a satisfying experience. Akira is one of the most famous anime films of all time, and it's truly great.
bapenguin, if you haven't seen Akira, Netflix it. Seriously.

The NDS version of Bleach though is really good though. I picked it up because I'm a bit of a Treasure fan and it's very much one of their games. It's pretty hard to give a shit about any of the characters, but the fighting system itself is really solid.
I'd recomend anyone who likes fighters or Treasure to pick up a copy and get a translation FAQ.

Bleach has some very cool fights, and the massive cast is quite cool and almost every character is cool in their own way. Which is quite impressive.
I am not sure how a fighting game using the Wiimote would work, as really most fights are not simply sword fights, they are closer to Marvel Vs. Capcom with giant attacks from the characters swords being fully unleashed as Ban Kais.
One characters sword turns into a giant bone-snake-dragon-thing that is still a sword, but about 50+ feet long and segmented. Another's sword disapears and they have a swarm of razor shards that is psychically controlled... a VERY large swarm. The main character moves too fast for anyone to see... Another guy has his sword grow supersized, grow wings and turn into ice making him kind of an ice dragon.
There are just so damn many crazy Ban Kai powers that the game would be quite insane to control. But without the Ban Kais, it's just a game where everyone has the same costume. Even though it would be the coolest fighting game if they made Ban Kais work, as there is no such thing as a weak Ban Kai.

The way the Gamecube game had it was there was a charge meter to build up your "super" ala a DBZ fighting game, where you can pull off special moves once you built up enough power or you could activate your "reiatsu" to slow things down so you could perform a combo on your adversary without them able to block it. The way Sega handled the Ban Kais was definitely one of the negative points as it was restricted really to only being a scripted super, one that was a picture slideshow at that. I'd also like to say that the Captain General is one of the cheapest and overly powerful fighting game characters ever made to go with the likes of Kyuubi Naruto from Naruto 4 and Sol Badguy from the Guilty Gear series.
