I just don't see the point in these teeny LCD screens.

Ever see the ones mounted on a custom controller? Chee-z. Not like Cheetos either. A bad cheesey. Like, if your Cheetos blurred and became less apetizing as you move them towards your mouth.

Yeah, I've seen those. I have to ask - who buys that crap? Clueless parents who think it would be cool for their kids to own the latest gadget?

Your Cheetos analogy is remarkably accurate. Kudos!

Looks kind of cool. Makes me think of a laptop, almost, but that one would definitely be roasting your umm, well, nevermind.

I could see parents going for something like this because they feared burn-in on their mega-expensive HDTV. Stick that on the 360 and if the kid trashes it, you can still watch the shopping channel.

Doesn't look as bad as the one that would mount onto a PSOne.

However, according to Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/29/joytechs-lcd-makes-your-xbox-360-portable-or-something/[/url), it's only 800x480 resolution. That's not even the full 16:9 widescreen for 480p.

Ever been stuck in a cabin at the beach on vaction with 10 other people while it rains for 8 days and there is only one TV? It was either watch "Judge Judy" for 4 hours or play Xbox on my "crappy" LCD.

That thing saved my sanity! Mine is widescreen and works witth Xbox, gamecube, and PS2.

Can a regular car even power the 360?

yeah, it should be able to, and plus it'll be great to have a 360 during the winter, an extra heater

yeah all you would need to do, is purchase a decent power inverter and BAM! your second heater in the car :), **please be advised, people in southern Cali should not purchase this item!**

As long as you dont play for more than 10 minutes if the car is stopped? :)

That would've been a good way of earning a beating in my childhood, running down the car battery playing a videogame. Not quite as good as cutting my mother's hair while she was sleeping on the couch, but close.

Yeah, this is the kind of thing large capacitors are made for. High end stereo, and running an ungodly amount of other crap in your car. If I had an SUV and a family, maybe this would make sense. But if I wanted to entertain myself of anyone else with such a device, I'd sooner install mounted LCDs.

I understand the cabin thing though. It would be handy then, and so is a deck of cards. I love videogames, but if you're in the middle of nowhere, find something else to do.

Yea, just what I want my 360 doing bouncing around in a car all day, that gotta be good for the system.

I see no point in this. I mean if you use it at home, you can get bigger TV's cheaper. The only use it has is to screw your eyesight.

But UK first! Woot!

Actually capacitors are terrible for this type of thing. A second deep-cycle battery would be better because they are made to be drained to their entirety and then recharged many times. A capacitor costs more money per amp stored(or wattage) and are actually one of the biggest ripoffs ever.

Yeah I'm a car-audio loser, sorry.

Miniature LCD monitor? I have a hard time calling anything that's nearly as wide as the damn X360 console miniature.

I dunno, caps are easier to install, and you don't have to worry about recharging it. I'm all about convenience there. Sure, a second battery is great, but I feel like it's a bit of a hassle. How much do they run anyway? Do they have deep-cycle batteries that are comparable in price? Can a regular alternator handle the charging, or are you always going to have to plug in your car to juice it up?

You know this because you have one, oh no that's right, you don't have one. I doubt you even own a 360.

What the hell is it with you people that have an emotional stake in a console or a company? What drives you to be such cheap shills? I mean for fucks sake, if you do it for the love you are being ripped off.

I would do anything for love, but I won't do that.

The smaller the LCD, the better. You get a sharper image, and faster response.

I recommend 26" or 30".

The thing is these deep-cycle batteries are usually better quality/sealed than your standard battery and I know some people just put them in the trunk (much like a cap).

As far as pricing, looking at some of the sites on Caraudio (http://www.caraudio.com) they offer them in differing amperage (which is basically like the differing farads on a cap), with a decent optima yellow top for $184.95. A price-equivalent capicator is going to be about 5000 watts (5 farad), for about $194.95.

To compare the efficiency of those prices. Your standard car battery is running at 12v while off. So that Yellow Top is 870 Amps stored, which converted to watts gives me 10440 watts. The battery is holding about twice as much for about 10 dollars cheaper.

In terms of charging, deep-cycle batteries will be charged by your alternator just like a capacitor. The battery will be constantly charged by your alternator, and unless you have something that is constantly beating your alternator's ass (stock alternators in smaller cars have this problem), the battery will be fully charged when you shut the car off. This would allow for the 360 to be played even when the car is off for a reasonable amount of time.

Capacitors are very useful for quick bursts for things, example being burping your sub (if you don't know what this is I'm sorry..), but in terms of powering something like a 360/LCD combo for your car, I wouldn't reccommend them.

Cool info man. Thanks for the explanation. I haven't run anything other than audio in my car, yet, so this is good to know.

Apparently there are also miniaturized controllers available for the 360 as well (I saw wired versions on sale at EBGames...small enough for my five-year-old to use!). Let's just miniaturize the whole thing. I want tiny, tinny speakers on my surround-sound system, a DS-sized monitor rather than my big tv, and an earplug, not a headset :)
