GamingNexus has posted an interview (http://www.gamingnexus.com/Default.aspx?ArticleType=Article&Section=Article&I=1074) with Night Watch game developer Nival Interactive.
GamingNexus: The game is described as a tactical RPG, does this mean the game is turn based?
Dmitri Zakharov: Yes, combat in the game is turn-based. When there are no enemies around, the game runs in real-time, but when any conflict arises the game switches into the turn-based mode. Every action you take will use a certain amount of Action Points and sometimes some Energy Points, if this action requires some magic. The Gloom increases the power of your characters, raising their APs but also draining some part of your Magic Energy during every turn.

For some reason when I first read this, I saw "Night Trap" instead. Talk about scaring the shit outa me.

Sounds good. I really enjoyed Silent Storm and this sounds very similar.

I am a fan of Silent Storm and Silent Storm Sentinels but was dissapointed by the Night Watch demo, the magic system and the various classes were not up to par and I also did not like the movie that much. The setting seems "wrong".
The movie was pretty good. Didnt know there would be a game.
edit - holy crap, those graphics suck.

The demo didn't feel like a finished product to me, more like something you'd find out of e3. Everything about it just seemed...rough to me. Suppossedly Night Watch is to be released this month, but the demo felt more in the "Year Off" range then the "six months off" range when it came out back in January.

Hrm. I guess JA beats Fallout by a year or so. Though the APs and realtime/turn based fits closely to Fallout, I've never played JA.

Jagged Alliance may have been released first, but Fallout is what you think of when that sort of combo real/turn-based play is utilized. Sort of the way "All Along the Watchtower" was written and first recorded by Bob Dylan, but everyone knows that it's Jimi Hendrix's song.

The demo for this sucks, and it reeks of commerical cash-in. I'm a big fan of Nival and Silent Storm and Hammer & Sickle are two of my favorite games, but c'mon, this shit is weak. The only good thing I've seen so far is that fact that you when you hit someone and if they go flying, they take damage for stuff they hit along the way plus when they land. Cool feature no doubt, but nowhere near enough to save the game.

Nival have done some good stuff, Silent Storm, HoMMV, Etherlords 2 and so I'm gonna hope it will be good no matter how bad it looks
