Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) is reporting that Foundation 9 Entertainment (Death Jr. on PSP, Age of Empires: The Age of Kings on DS) has landed investment from Francisco Partners to the tune of $150 million.

Major technology investment firm Francisco Partners will grant Foundation 9 Entertainment up to $150 million "over the next few years."
The investment will be used for "Foundation 9's organic growth, IP development, and future acquisitions."
Brian Ruder, a principal with Francisco Partners, said, "Foundation 9's breadth of experience across all platforms and age groups, paired with its innovative and cost-effective approach to launching original properties, place it in a unique position within the videogame industry. We plan to work actively with management to continue growing this business in scale and creativity."
Ruder said that Foundation 9, one of the largest independent videogame developers in North America, was a good candidate for a capital infusion.

Foundation 9 chairman and CEO Jon Goldman added, "Francisco Partners' deep resources will enable us to continue creating stronger opportunities for our employees and publishing partners, as well as our partners in the film/TV and consumer products worlds."
That's a huge investment in what I thought was a relatively young studio...
