Came across this online tonight in a few places.

Not sure if it everyone has seen it, it's been mentioned in the news post on the main page (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133782), but here it is. I'm a big Spidey fan, and I dig the look. Spider-Man is supposed to be a little slimmer, and the suit translates well to the "real world."
One thing that kind of turns me off is the swirl designs on his hands and gloves. But whatever.

It doesn't look bad. I don't think the franchise needed a 'reboot' at all -- considering the 3rd film made over $890 Million at the box office -- but, this isn't a bad version of the suit.

So, why'd they ditch tobey maguire anyway? Is the same actress lead in this one, what's her name?

She's not doing it. She said she hated working on the films. (Mary Jane...that chick that was in Small Soldiers) Gwen is gonna be played by fake redhead Emma Stone.

The suit is kind of fancy for a high school kid. At least it looks like he has web shooters this time.
They ditched toby mcquire because he started demanding way too much money. Not to mention the director of the 3rd film absolutely hated it. Part of why it was so terrible.
I think they should have waited longer to do a reboot, but I suppose sony needs to milk out it's Spider-Man licensing deal as best as it can before it runs out, as any future spider-man project is obviously going to be helmed by Marvel Studios instead. (And will probably be much, much better for it)

Marvel Studios doesn't exist any more. They got bought out by Disney, remember?

Really looking forward to this. So glad they've got rid of toby as he was too geeky for the part and that stupid red head (mj) who was right off the bat wrong for the role.

The last MJ actress kinda made the movies for me. Even though I don't think she's that pretty or w/e, her acting was really good. Sensitive even, when it counted.

You're fine with a high school kid making completely unrealistic web shooters, but his costume is too fancy?

He created the webshooters because he's a genius at technical stuff. The suit has nothing to do with that, it looks too fancy.

So, wait. You're okay with the guy being able to construct extremely complex devices that allow him to fire an adhesive substance heretofore entirely undiscovered...essentially inventing and building two brand new things while still in high school...but the idea that he can operate a sewing machine is entirely inconceivable?
You're silly.

Except it doesn't look like something a high schooler could sew. In fact, it looks like some sort of rubber material, and like someone hired a designer to custom design the shapes and colors and seams.

But it looks cool!

So what you're telling me is that spiderman is gay and really knows his way around a sewing machine :P

Marvel in general got bought out by disney. The comic aspecft, the toy line aspect, all of it.
Marvel studios still exist as a studio, they're just now marvel studios (subdivision of Disney).

Hah.
They'll likely go with the Ultimate version of how he gets his costume; the wrestling promoter gives it to him.
The best-case scenario is, however, the origin story being glossed over during the opening credits. It worked well with the last Hulk movie and folks are familiar enough with Spider-Man that they don't need to really devote much time to his origin.
