Hey guys . . . I'd like to pose a relatively simple problem and I'm sure the Evil crew can help me out.

My setup goes like this:
1. 360 to TV through component, audio to receiver by toslink/optical
2. Blu-Ray Player to TV through HDMI, audio to receiver by coaxial
3. TV to receiver through analog out (red/white) for Wii and cable tv

I recently got myself a PS3, which I run through to my TV through HDMI. However, I'd like to get some proper sound rather than shitty analog out. My receiver, however, does not have HDMI in, only ONE coaxial and ONE optical input. My TV does have optical out.

So, I'm wondering if I can use something like this (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042301&p_id=966&seq=1&format=2) to run two optical signals to my single port, either 360/PS3 or 360/TV. But I'm afraid the signals will interfere, or quality will drop. No, I can't afford a new receiver right now :p.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, and I apologize for the long-winded post.

Can't you connect your Surround Sound system with the splitter to your tv? The only way I can have everything connected in my room is with a 5.1 PC speakers using a splitter to my tv...dude just get that splitter thing is like 5 bucks. :D

Jury-rigged home theater is a lot of fun. But yeah, I'm gonna give that splitter a shot. I mean if it doesn't work, what's 5 bucks?

Don't assume that your TVs optical out is going to pass through the digital signal from the optical in. For many (I would say most mid-range) TVs you can only output 5.1 sound if it was input from a roof aerial or coax and processed by the TVs tuner. Look in the manual for the TV and it will most likely tell you that the best you will get from HDMI or optical in is stereo or Pro Logic fake surround.
