What? You thought you'd just have a nice quiet Friday night by yourself? I think not, my friend! Instead why not pour yourself a nice cup of Evil Avatar Radio (http://www.kumm.org) and get MOVING. You can listen in to the live edition of the show by clicking the link above and streaming it onto your computer. We'll also be doing a live chat in the Evil Avatar chatroom (http://www.bapenguin.com/chat.php). Here's the breakdown for tonight:

We'll kick off the show at 9:00 PM central with a kick-ass hour-long interview with SCOTT KURTZ, the creator of PvP (http://www.pvponline.com), one of the best and most-loved webcomics online. Scott will tell us all about just how big a gamer he is, how he got into the comics business, and about his new mini-series with Image Comics, Truth, Justin, and the American Way.

After that, at around 10:00 PM central, Justin will join me for a rundown of the week's biggest news stories. Then we'll open up the phone lines for ANYONE to call in and give their uneducated opinions on the week's going-ons. That number is 320-589-6355. Want to give your opinion but not down with the phone-ins? Send an e-mail to evilavatarnews@gmail.com at any point during the show and we'll read it on-air! At some point we'll do a review of game releases for next week, and we'll keep taking calls till midnight central, folks, so keep those internet dials tuned!

This promises to be our biggest show yet, so tune in and call in! Hope to see you all in an hour!

Fool.

Haha, holy shit? Skurtz? That's pretty awesome.

Was a nice score. :) Should add a lot of new listeners too, but most importantly Kurtz is a great guy.

I'll be AFKing in the chat room until it starts...

"Now listen to me, I tell you boys and girls - whichever one of you gets it out... is going to wind up with the single most important interview since... God talked to Moses!"

Yeah, it's on par with that. Kudos to anyone who can get the reference without using the internet.

Kurtz is really a great guy. He makes urine sound funny. (Just listen tonight.)

:D

A repeat of last week, I can't operate a timezone to save my life (Arizona confuses me) so I popped in with 4 minutes left.

I promise that one day I will hear this show.

We announced a big interview when we released the original 'cast last week. We didn't say who with to keep it a surprise. I could try and change that. But either way, if you miss the live 'cast, it's not a big deal -- you can hear the recorded version soon.

You realise this only feeds my ego?

You realize that's the only reason we exist? ;)

It was nuts and fun for sure :D

I promise that one day I will hear this show.

Just make sure to catch the recorded version. ;)

Don't make me call in one day and crash the show.

I honestly have no idea what I would do in this situation. :\

Eric Be Thy Name... I love you.Back at cha ...fairy. :p

How can ya'll say Half-Life 2 is a crappy game? I don't buy crappy games, that was the point of the email to get your opinion on the shit these industry kats pull on their consumers. (aka the important people) I don't mind them makin profit off the franchise. (not just speaking about EA, but publishers in general) They have to make money to make games. This is just slowly becoming an all too common trend. They would rather slap an exsisting game together on 360 rather than take a risk in using time and resources for improved NEW games. It's an expensive risk but it has to be done if the industry wants to move foward gracefully.

2 things that would make this alright:
Improve the game with added features including multiplayer and bonus content

or call it what it is: HL2HD and without charging full price

Hell, go buy the $20 xbox version which looks and runs better on 360 thanks to some BC patches you can download. It looked great on Xbox 1 as it is.
You can buy both the PC and Xbox version for under $20 BRAND NEW. 59.99 for a HD version of a old game is absurd.

Now that I think about it, wasn't EA's Burnout Revenge for 360 the same game only higher rez and higher price tag? The original game sold extremely well so alot of people owned it before 360 and if they bought the "new" version they pretty muched got screwed.

I don't mean to rant but I think during ya'll's "funny time" you misunderstood my question. I did enjoy the show, tho the comic bits were a bit long. I'll keep in touch.

I'm not saying that HL2 is a crap game! I'm saying that simply porting it to consoles is a crap move! And that we, as consumers, can only complain so much because 'we' are the reason that such crap moves are made! We (not necessarily you or I,) often support crap.

It was a great question, by the way, even if we're fucking insane. Sorry that I let it hamper the respect the question deserved.

/edit:
I blame PHIL! He didn't bring it up until the last second, when we were insane with... Stupidity.

We weren't, but the idea that it was just a port that did nothing new and charged full price makes it crappy. :)

Like I said, I doubt it's Valve themselves actually doing this -- it's probably thrown off to some small dev to port, so Valve still is moving forward.

It truly is. Are we sure 100% that this will be the price? Cause it's hard to believe.

No idea. I only got the 360 version. :p

Heh, we were on a comic roll, for sure. Not usually that bad. ;) But I don't think we misunderstood. Or well, I didn't -- Jeff definitely did. :p Either way, thanks a ton for the e-mail and we hope you write and listen (and maybe even call!) again.

If you like the animation style, check out Linklater's Waking Life if you haven't yet. Totally different from a Scanner Darkly, but just as beautifully animated. It's a really philosophical, talky movie, all about existentialism. I guess if a movie all based around random conversation sounds boring, avoid it, but if not and you want to see an example of what Linklater can do with rotoscoping (done by the same studio doing A Scanner Darkly, I believe), check it. Waking Life seriously completely changed my life.

Did anyone ask Kurtz if his new troll character is a hoax. . . a play on jumping the shark or something? I keep expecting the PvP crew to go to Hawaii now.

Man that new character isn't funny.

They went back in time and met Skull's old crew, not to mention half the archive. PvP jumped looong ago.

Though yeah, the new character is something akin to having sex with a shark.

It's on Xbox Live, not sure where it's available online, though the official site is a safe bet.
