Worthplaying (http://www.worthplaying.com/) has posted their preview (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=34322&mode=thread&order=0) of the new Indiana Jones game that was shown at E3. The title is being developed for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Here's a bit from the article...

It's not designed to coincide with the upcoming film, instead acting as a sort of direct, playable sequel to The Last Crusade. This time the adventure is set in San Francisco in 1939, which means old-fashioned two-fisted borderline-offensive action with Indy trading his usual Nazi nemeses in for a battle against the gangsters of Chinatown. The demo, played out in realtime by a LucasArts employee, showed Indy first brawling his way through the streets with his whip and fists, and then engaging in a breathless chase scene while riding atop a runaway cable car. Some events of the demo were scripted, such as a sequence where Indy sets off a chain reaction of environment destructions that topples a pair of huge neon signs down to the ground, but what wasn't scripted was the behavior of the gangsters Indy was fighting.
We named the dog Indiana...

I dont think they'll ever top Fate Of Atlantis. One of the best adventure games Ive ever played.

Bah... Last Crusade (the adventure game, not the action version) beat out Fate of Atlantis in my eyes.

Anyway after looking at those screen shots all I can say is...

Uncanny Valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley#The_Uncanny_Valley_in_games)?

Well perhaps that isn't quite true we aint talking Heavy Rain quality here but the faces just look a little creepy.

It's the eyes. Indie's lifeless, lifeless eyes!

The uncanny valley concern stops when you see it animated.
Seriously, don't try to fake wrinkles in cloth with bump maps. Not wrinkles that prominent. They look like ass. Also, when I saw it, Indy didn't animate right. Something about their tech makes him look like a stumbling drunk trying to act sober.

Although, I will send a cookie bouquet to the first team that ships a shader program to actually simulate cloth wrinkles with a normal map. This game's convinced me it adds a ton to the image -- so long as it's not static.

I really wish I could think of something clever to put here to fit the minimum post requirement, but I can't.
