Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64878) seems very impressed with Dead Rising. Capcom has perfectly captured the zombie B-movie essence.
The amount of things to do and fun to be had with zombies seems to be utterly limitless. It's a wonderful sandbox design, made even more wonderful by the amount of objects in the game that are fun to play with but serve absolutely no use, such as Frisbees (just bounce of zombie's heads stupidly) or toy lightsabers. For example, within a couple of minutes I'd decided to change the originally quite conservatively dressed Frank West into children's clothes that were far too small for him, white suede shoes and topped it all of with a Servbot mask. Wandering around becoming increasingly blood splattered from smashing zombie skulls with a fire axe, it was like my very own deranged psychopath simulator.
An original new game? Impressive!

This game looks GREAT. I wish it was coming out a bit earlier in the summer, as last I heard the release date was August, and that's right around when classes start for me. :( Still, I'm way looking forward to this.

I'm looking forward to it as well, but I'm not sure I'd call it original. It's a beat-em-up with a nice premise, zombies. Sorta Streets of Rage for next gen... or if you prefer, Blue Stinger. The Christmas music in the store still haunts me. I also have to say, I wish people could review sandbox titles without using the term 'limitless'. It always seems to me they need to try harder and/or use more imagination at finding the limits.
I want to like this game, I probably will, but likely for a weekend. I'll be pretty impressed if this lasts much longer than that. Otherwise, looks fun.

Everything I've read indicates a short title but one that you will play over and over again due to the amount of things you can do.
Either way this game has been on my most wanted list since the day I saw the trailer on LIVE.
Will definity buy this game, it simply looks fun to play and I actually like the fact that its apperently short but with great replay value.

It's awesome to see Capcom bringing these fantastic new IPs exclusively to the 360. This and Lost Planet are shaping up to be awesome games.

I wasn´t expecting anything at all from this game until I saw the E3 videos... Woa, looks fun, lots of different ways to kill a zombie :)

Everyone's saying great replay, but let's wait til you've actually mowed down them zombies a good 5-10 play throughs and see who's still standing in a week. :) That said, I like the idea of a 3 hour game I can /start/ and /finish/ before leaving for work.

I thought the game looked like a lot of fun. I do worry about the amount of play time in it, though.
Dead Rising hands on (http://www.dailygame.net/news/archives/005634.php#005634)

A bit more complex than that, but hell... if it brings back the amount of fun I had playing that game, it'll be great!

Oh, my sentiments exactly! I don't think I've had as much fun playing a video game. Zombies is one of the best games EVAR!

Here's something I'm not clear on: is there co-p in Dead Rising? Cause co-op over Live would REALLY bring back all those awesome memories of zombie-smashing with buds on SNES back in the day.

no-co-op or multiplayer whatsoever. :( I'd LOVE to sit in the back of a hatchback with a shotgun while you drive through the mall tossing liquor bottle molotav cocktails.
hopefully dead rising 2 has that, and lets you go through the whole town.

I think your looking for Monster Madness, not this game. Hell, in that game, you can even turn into a werewolf.

I have a feeling if they sell well, they'll be coming to the PS3. There have only been a handful of exclusive Japanese games on the Xbox.

Oh, you have a feeling? Well in that case someone needs to alert retailers to put these games on their PS3 release lists!
MS negotiated these games as exclusives from Capcom. We can talk again when the two parties announce something to the contrary... or not.

Dude, it's not like it's never happened before. See: Resident Evil 4, Grand Theft Auto 3 series, Metal Gear Solid 2, etc.

No one said everyone should wait for the PS3 version. One guy merely said he thinks a PS3 version might come eventually if it's successful. He didn't even say he was going to wait for it. Quit being such a fanboy douche for a second how about?

He was just saying he has a feeling it might not stay exclusive. There's no reason to take that personally. It was conjecture. No one ever said it wasn't.

Everything I heard points to late August. It was scheduled for June not too long ago... or April, even?

And, yes, ZAMN would be a wonderful addition to my XBLA...
I've got UNO (which I'm SO over, already) and Geometry Wars, along with a bunch of other demos.

You're missing out on some great games, then.
Wik is one of the best games of last year. The demo alone can't convey how creative and deep the game gets over the long but rewarding progression. What appears to be rather simple becomes incredible brain-teasers later.

That's not a bad thing. It will give people like Borys a chance to play the games. Xbox gamers didn't scowl when GTA was finally released on their console of choice. Better late than never.

I'm not into the gory games, but I am interested to see how the 360 handles the massive amounts of moving characters and objects in the game...needs a lot of processing power to handle that kind of shuffling mass of dead humanity!

I thought they posted how they were doing it...they were using the AI equivalent of LOD.

I wasn't referring to the method...let me restate; I'm interested in how well it turns out; whether it will be sluggish, choppy in framerate, such issues...
Poorly worded initially; my fault. Some games with massive amounts of characters on screen get choppy, so games like GRAW have terrific graphics, but no civilians anywhere and manageable, often distant enemies.
First impressions aside (the article), I'd like to read several reviews to see the framerate and such.
