Microsoft sends word that their download total for XBox Live Marketplace now exceeds 24 million. Last week alone during E3 there were over 5 million downloads equaling 6 tera bytes of data. Here are the top 10 downloads from last week.

1. Halo 3 Game Trailer (Microsoft Game Studios)
2. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Free Playable Demo (Capcom)
3. Test Drive® Unlimited Free Playable Demo (Atari)
4. MotoGP™ '06 Free Playable Demo (THQ)
5. X-Men™: The Last Stand Pack (20th Century Fox)
6. Gears of War GameTrailer (Microsoft Game Studios)
7. Call of Duty ®2: Skirmish Map Pack (Activision)
8. Spiderman™ 3 Game Trailer (Activision)
9. Fable 2 Trailer (Microsoft Game Studios)
10. Uno® Xbox Live Arcade Game (Microsoft Game Studios)

I'm still playing catchup downloading some of these trailers and such. Now that the rush has died down it's much more manageable.

Btw, I seem to recall that there were more demos planned for download during E3. Am I just imagineering that thought or did they pull back on these when they realized their infastructure for Live was weaksauce.

How's the Lost Planet Demo?

It's fairly interesting. You get rechargable health ala Halo, but you are constantly running an energy pack that is majorly depleted when it must recover health, and is always ticking away as it keeps you alive in the very cold weather.

The weapons in the demo really sucked IMO. The standard machine gun had more power to it than the sniper rifle due to the sniper rifles sucky power but heavy reload time. Then you had a shotgun and a rocket-launcher. . . kind of boring. Oh, there was also a limitless ammo energy weapon that hit hard if you charged it up, but it wasn't worth bothering with.

Decent. . . but not really satisfying. I'm less interested after playing the demo than I was from just viewing the trailers.

However, totally worth it as a free download.

There's a few weapons you missed there. The mech cannon and gattling (sp?) gun which can be used on the mechs or on foot. :)

I fixed your damn English thing too.

Thanks for correcting me. I didn't find the mech cannon/gatling gun. Is it cool?

Yeah it's pretty sweet because you can use either on foot or you can walk it up to and attach it to one of the mech arms. It's a small customization step. It really helps out in the 2nd demo mission.

I might have seen flashes in the live conferences (save for Microsofts Fecking delay...) but the only footage I have scene not the trailer even was graw. The others I dont really have interest in but if there was a pack of I would get it.

I wish there was someone who downloaded exactly the same shit as me and I could just get there / my shit streamed in one daily file. I consider then time overhead in trailer downloads cumbersome and not worth the effort, I much prefer pieceing together the written words and waiting for a blindingly obvious simple link.

Gametrailers on the interwebs should be as simple and as fast as switching television channels far to many clicks involved.

/ goes to search for graw and wonders what actual trailers if any were released for the N Gage...

I personally downloaded nine of those ten on the list. For the most part, the experience was a good one. I did run into some issues at peak points of the day, like in the early evening, when it took me about ninety minutes to download a file that a comparably-sized file would take fifteen minutes to finish when done early in the morning; otherwise, I love the ability to download trailers, demos, new content for games, and such. Live is ingenious and I can no longer tolerate any split-screen play after being on Live a few years now. I can't wait for the next blades update and backwards-compatibility update.

The Test Drive demo really disappointed me. The game has such potential as a sandbox games, but car control was terrible. Hope they tighten the controls before release.

Mech cannon? Meh.

Go in the garage and get in the mech suit a la Ripley in Aliens. Then go outside and get the other mech cannon. You're in a almost indestructable suit with dual cannons, one for each trigger.

ooooh a chromehounds demo would be nice.

Wasn't there supposed to be a PDZ demo out already? I went to look for it on Live and couldn't find it, and there is no mention of it on the PDZ website - but I could have sworn it was mentioned here on EvAv

How's the Lost Planet Demo?

It's spectacular.

That one poster who said it was meh really confuses me. Did they use the grapling hook? Did they get into the MECHs and jump and thrust around? Did they get out of the mech, rip one of the giant rocket cannons off it and run around firing it into other mechs? Did they not notice the explosions?

It rocks.

Seriously, I wasn't able to download more than 10% of *anything* during E3 week. I started downloading things Monday though and I haven't had any issues. Finally able to watch all the E3 backstage videos, new trailers and demo's. I really wish they would have released the download queue update after E3 week though, it would have really helped us catch up quickly.

They also released Motogp 06 and Test Drive Unlimited.

I downloaded MotoGP demo last night before I went to bed, I'm not really into motorocycle racing, but some of the screenshots I saw for this game were just insane and I wanted to see if the game really looks that good.

Lost Planet was pretty good. The demo didn't blow me away but I can see a strong product behind all this. The explosions truly are amazing, gameplay is solid and the weapons were cool. Did you finish first missions? Some good bossfight there.

I guess score of reviews will depend on how good the story is, how much missions there are and how much variation there is. The game mechanics and graphics certainly are good enough to support a great game.

Lost Planet was the only other game on 360, besides Oblivion, that I've really enjoyed. It's basically a standard actioner, but the graphics and setting set it apart. Other than that, you've been there, done that before. But I liked it.

Lost Planet was pretty fun, wasn't incredible or anything. Found an energy cannon that homed in on enemies which was useful against the flying things. Beat the Snow Pirate level and had fun with it, couldn't beat the boss in the Hive level though.

Best part was probably running around in the Snow Pirate level, inwardly shrieking because of the missile turrets, mechs, snipers, and rocket-launcher guys blowing everything up around me. AI was a bit screwy though.

Lost Planet rocks. Glad to get a solid action game that looks pretty. Tired of people thinking that anything "next gen" has to redefine the world and yet, it doesn't and just falls on its face. Lost Planet seems pretty solid and as long as they have a compelling story, I'm in.

It amazes me that people BITCH and MOAN about so much FREE content. Where's this? Where's that? They OWE ME!

Live Marketplace is AWESOME and the barrage of stuff Microsoft dumped last week was great!! I can't understand why people have to be such spoiled childred.

I can't wait till next month, when there's a lull and everyone says how SHITTY Microsoft are and how they "dropped the ball" and how the Wii's gonna win the war, yadda...yadda... :p

There already IS a lull, you galoot. Where are the new 360 games? Free content, meaning demos, is nice, but they do NOT substitute full games.

How's the Lost Planet Demo?

EvilBob46,

G4TV (Sesler and Webb) just gave Lost Planet best 360 game of E3. A surprise, but from listeing to 1up and other podcasts etc, it's not a total surprise. People really seem to love this game.

I agree with the other poster about not noticing the grappling hook and some other features like jump jet, swapping out the guns on the mech, heater stands etc. It's tough sometimes on a demo without a manual to find all this features.

I like it, but expected Gears or War, Mass Effect, Bio Shock and Splinter Cell to be the more logical choices for the 360. On the 1up.com E3 podcasts their were votes for games I wouldn't have expected like Saint's Row, Crackdown, Rainbow Six Vegas and even Dead Rising. Goes to show how people's taste's vary.

Spore seems to be the PC choice, although Crysis, Bioshock seemed to get a lot of excitement.

Resistance Fall of Man was their PS3 choice. It looks like a very good FPS. Warhawk and Heavenly Sword have potential as well, but it looks like Resistance is shaping up to be the #1 title for the PS3 launch. It could be the Call of Duty for the PS3.

and Best of Show was give to Nintendo's Princess something or other (help me Wii fans!!!).

Yeah, the download cue update at the end of May will be awesome, but that will just make it easier to download more content and further stress the network.

I downloaded all 10 items on that list. Basically, I downloaded all 100 E3 items or however many it was, except for about 5 or 6 trailers. I didn't really notice the slowdown. I'm sure it was there, but I usually click download and read EvilAvatar.com or TV, and because EvilAvatar.com is soooo good, I don't actually notice how long it takes to download off Marketplace... :D

The funny thing about Uno is that is might actually cost more to buy a pure digital download than a physical pack of cards to play Uno in the real world.

Kelegacy, I may be wrong, but isn't the post-E3 period, through the summer, historically the worst period for new releases?? I have a 360 and I'm not feeling too terribly concerned at any dry spell right now. They will have around 180 titles by Christmas; that's way more than I can afford to buy :(

Yeah. I hate the fall because so many games come out I can't afford them all (time AND money). If they came out during the rest of the year, like NOW until Xmas, I'd be able to buy and absorb all of the good ones. I sorta hope the 360 doesn't see a price drop any time soon because I'll probably tell myself, "you should have waited, you dolt," if I bought the 360 in March for Oblivion and left it abandoned until the fall.
