The Total War site (http://www.totalwar.com/) now offers a new video of Medieval 2: Total War, the next game in the series. The video can be found Here (http://www.totalwar.com/asset_library/Videos/Hi_Resolution/video_mtw2_gamepreview.mov).

From the creators of the multi-award-winning Rome: Total War comes a PC title to take strategy gaming to unprecedented heights of scale and graphical detail. Medieval 2: Total War is the latest and greatest instalment in one of PC gaming's most successful series.Set between 1080 and 1503, one of the most formative and fractious periods in European history, Medieval 2: Total War plunges you into a turbulent era of religious conflict, brutal hand-to-hand warfare and political cunning. Battle will rage across Europe, the Middle East and eventually the New World as you encounter the mysterious Aztecs.

A massively upgraded graphics engine sees individuals' faces and armour realised amidst the blood-soaked chaos of massed battle, while all-new combat animations bring every do-or-die struggle to life. An overhauled terrain model also brings battlefields, settlements and castles into sharper relief than ever before.Medieval 2 is steeped in the richness of the middle ages. Fire dead animals into besieged towns to spread disease, ransom or execute captured nobles, marry daughters into rival families to secure alliances, and even fight in the Crusades under the banner of your religion. With games like this, is PC gaming really dead? Dang, those new combat animations are so much better than the ones in Rome.

i still hated how in this game when your empire would get really big you'd start having to station thousands of men in each province just so they wouldn't rebel. Which was nearly impossible to do when your trying to conquor those last few pesky nations with a different relegion

Listen! And understand. That PC Gaming is out there! It can't be bargained with, can't be reasoned with! It doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear, and it absolutely will not stop. EVER! Until you are dead!

These are exactly the type of games that will keep PC gaming alive ( and have in the past ).

Thing is though, as super duper as Medivel games are, even with their rabid fan base, in the end they probrably still make alot less money than even mediocre console games. Sickly, Blinx probrably made twice as much money as Total War.

Also a downside to catering to niche markets ( wargaming im talking here... not PC ).

Dang - My bank account will attest that PC gaming is not dead at all... I can only wait and save up now.

If PC gaming is dead, then cerebral historic games like this would perish. I don't any console platform could maintain the same authenticity and hardcore-ness of a PC game. However, no PC game could have the same lively, actioney feeling with high production values of console games.

Best of both worlds can only be achieved if you have both worlds (that means you're both a console and PC player).

The game is looking pretty good, but I was never a fan of medieval times. Truth be told, I'd rather see a sequel to RTW. Eh, I'll live.

Anyways, I have a bad feeling about this game. CA has been going downhill for awhile now, especially with the lame Alexander mini-mod coming out. R:TW was a good game, but was made a great game by the modders (RTR anyone?). I'm hoping for the same with M2TW.
