Theres a video up at Gametrailers (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=2509) of an interview with the CEO of Crytek in which he discusses their upcoming game Crysis, its technology...and also why they decided to keep it PC only.

Good interview. I can't wait to see other games that use this engine.

I'm really not interested enough in the title to watch the interview, but I'd like to know why they kept it PC only. I can only assume it's because we PC gamers are quite the sexy lot.

havent watched this interview yet, but one of the crytek guys hinted at a X360 release after the PC release. And also a Microsoft rep was talking about some of the developers that have been supporting them and he mentioned Crytek, so I would guess that a 360 port is in the work in a year from now.

Well maybe you shoud just watch it then, since this is the only video I know of that shows off the game's jungle area gameplay that was shown during E3.
Oh and bloodpack, just watch the dang interview before chiming in, makes one look stupid.

Without having downloaded the video, his reasons will probably include customisability, more suitable controls and DX10.

He just feels that developing for consoles as well would water down the game. He doesnt want to compromise and feels the PC allows them to develop without restrictions as its a constantly evolving platform. Refreshing to hear considering all the pro-console stuff I've been hearing this last week.

Good Interview!!! :)
I didn't know that all the trees in the Jungle are Destructable :D
He is very cool about the exclusive PC version.
Offcourse we will see console versions later on, but they will be based on the PC version with many features removed. To make it short, he wants to avoid a game with "consolitis". Don't know who made up the word, but it is pretty obvious what can happen to a PC game, if you are developing a PC and console version at the same time.
Imagine you want some cool fundamental feature in a game, that is not possible on a console. Then you skip that feature to ship the game to the most people (make more money) and keep the 2 teams developing in sync. Money-wise it would be stupid to disband the console-team, just because you suddenly want to go hardcore PC. This guy won't put the game in a place, where they have to drop features, because it won't work on the console.
When the PC game has shipped we will see some console version, but without some of the more spectacular effects. Like the demanding physics and the destructible trees and foilage. Perhaps even with a twist like they did with Farcry Instincts.
You could then argue, that they could have a team develop a different console version right now, if they are gonna do one eventually. I don't think this would turn out too good, unless you have 100% water proof design documents and complete tech. Alot in Crysis are probably things made up as they go along (like the creation of most games) and they would not know what kind of console version to produce without having finished the PC version.
I applaud them for doing so, as it will severely limit the chance of me buying a crappy game.

Farcry had fun gameplay and graphics. I am sure Crysis will have the same.
What I don't care for, the was LAME story, and the horrible voicework and character dialgoue in the game.
If this game has someone who says "I'm going to open can of whoopass on you!" I will remove the disk, uninstall it, and return that shit to the store.
Really. Farcry was cool, but stop shaggy bearded game coders from writing the story please.

Voice acting in far cry was soo bad, it really ruined the immersion factor for me. As far as I can tell from the videos, its not too much better in Crisis =/
