Strategy Informer (http://www.strategyinformer.com/) has had a chat with David Bowman to talk about Dark World Online, the upcoming MMORPG from Tulga Games which was very recently announced. Here's a snippet:
Strategy Informer: Could you tell us a little bit about the factions and weapons that will be featured in Dark World: Online?
David Bowman: The Slayer faction (humans) are heavily weighted toward high-tech gear, magic, and hexes. The Werewolves use their natural physical prowess and ability to morph between forms combined with their pack bonuses to engage in combat. The Vampires have their mental domination, supernatural strength, enthralled humans, and abilities to inflict damage on their foes.

For a moment there I thought this was an MMORPG based in World of Darkness of the Vampire: Masquerade / Bloodlines / Role Playing etc games, and I was very, very happy. Doesn't look to be the case though, although the similarities are um.. blatant.

Edit: If you choose to be a human, you are a Slayer...

I've allways wanted to play a video game as one of the members of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time! SLAYER!
I'm just glad that people are thinking about MMO's in different settings now, I just hope they can think up more things to do in the games besides the same boring quests present in all the other games.

Agreed. I love fantasy, but there are a lot of fantasy-based MMOs, and most of them don't do anything unique, setting-wise(not to mention gameplay).
The idea of a MMO set in modern times is definately appealing. I just don't think the makers of Horizons will be bringing it to us in a manner than would be enjoyable. But who knows... Maybe they learned something.

"Dave....tell us what we really want to hear about: the strange monoliths such as the one on the moon and the one orbiting Jupiter."

From the developers of Horizons? Shit, that's the billing equivalent of saying "From the political party that brought you the holocaust."
Man, they should've just gotten Wolfpack Studios back together, I bet those guys would work cheap now.

Freaking classic.

This would be awesome if it wasn't from the creators of Horizons and if David Bowman had absolutely nothing to do with it. The only reason Bowman is still with Horizons is because not one single developer would touch him with a 40' pole.......it's mind boggling to think that this No talent jerk had anything to do with AC.
Dark World online will have the same crappy code, and content and same horrible load times as Horizons... Bowman will ignore the beta testers feedback and Hide under his desk for the first six months after release just like he did with Horizons. This one is dead at conception.
On brighter note White Wolf is in talks with Cryptic about developing a World of Darkness MMO. This may be a long time coming, as Shane Hensley Really wants a Deadlands MMO to be next on Cryptics agenda.

Yeah he spoke about it at last years Gen-Con..I think he's having difficulty selling the idea which amazes me because Deadlands would be an Awesome MMO.... I think though they would really need to do some serious work on Cryptics engine for it to look anywhere like it should..... Deadlands art has a specific look, I don't see how that can be achieved with The CoX engine
