IGN (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/708/708232p1.html) has some hands on impressions with the upcoming Alone in the Dark title for PC, PS3 and 360.Alone in the Dark is being designed as a no HUD, no menu type of game. There aren't any health bars on screen, and your inventory is checked by checking your person. This means to see what you're carrying, you'll actually open up your coat and peer into the pockets. This mechanic also limits you to being able to carry around only what would be reasonable of an actual human being.

They mention it's a very action oriented game, so it sounds like they aren't being very faithful to the original.

Resident Evil 4 was a very action-oriented game too, and not very faithful to the originals, and we all know how bad that one turned out...err, wait.

This is what, the 4th or 5th title in the series? If they're trying something new and believe in it, I say go for it.

Does anyone remember the original? Was it actually scary at all? I dont remember it being so. First scary game I can recall was system shock, nothing before that really seemed scary.

I loved the original , and yes it had its tense moments of scaryness. I wish to god that they would implement the type of puzzles they used in the original game..I like RE4 dont get me wrong but damn , too much action and not enough thinking. I love a game that has a good mix of both. The original AITD was almost perfect in that regard. The 2nd one was nice too ,after that well not so much.

I'm one of those who like puzzle.
I've play RE4 and like it, but with more puzzle i would like it more.

Everyhing these days get more action and less thinking.
Probably that sell less, customer always decide.

Hold on now. You killed 2 zombies within the first 8 minutes of the first one. It may not have been RE action, but it wasn't Myst either.

I love the idea of only being able to carry what an actual human 'could' carry. Actually, showing it in pockets and/or in your hand, shouldered etc, is something I've wanted to see more games do...

RPG's are the worst offender of this. Many small pickup trucks couldn't carry what many RPG's allow you too...

I'd hope that your speed, stamina, ability to equip the items is handled with the same realism...
