Thanks to IGN for the link (http://ps3.ign.com/objects/793/793793.html#previews)

The series has now moved half a world away from North Korea to Venezuela, which helped the team keep the same "ripped from the headlines" feel of the first title as well as differentiate the gameplay from the original Mercenaries in a significant way,

As a final note, there will also be the inclusion of cooperative play, able to be initiated at any point during the game. Should players find themselves in trouble, a second player can hop in within and within moments be blasting guns right alongside via splitscreen. The process is surprisingly fluid, with no interruption in the action.
Co-op play? At any point in the game? Yaaay

I loved the first Mercenaries game. Yeah it could have been Grand Theft Auto: North Korea, but that's not a bad thing. The sandbox gameplay coupled with a wargame setting worked out perfectly.

I loved Mercenaries as well and played the hell out of it. Definately similar to GTA, except the combat was much better IMO.

Nice, I really liked the first one. First good reason I've seen to get a PS3 (well, maybe MGS4, but I'm just not too excited about that for some reason).

PS3 only? The last one was on all three consoles.

I really liked the last one, I just wished that the world was more persistent. For example, if I cruise missile a building, I want that building to stay gone. This especially goes for those bunkers that spewed infinite enemies. I got so sick of nuking them only to have them reappear as I drove down the road.

Didnt this game end up reviewing pretty average after being hyped all to hell? Wasnt it in the same realm as the first Killzone?

Both games involved guns and shooting folks, but Mercenaries took place in big, sandboxy environments that had tons of vehicles...whereas Killzone was a railed FPS that took place in a lot of gray, urban landscapes that resembled parking structures.

I liked it better than any GTA game. Little more character interaction and emotional depth and I think it could have been really great. All the mechanics were there, IMO.

On IGN it's only listed as PS3, the developer in fact talks about programming on the PS3, but there's no mention of any other system.

It got average reviews, but I think that was mostly due to it being an arcade-y 3rd person, console shooter, which is a triple sin in the eyes of many reviewers.

Unless this is being published by Sony, the publisher would be nuts not to release it for the XBOX and even the PC as well. If it does turn out to be PS3 then I will not be playing it, which disappoints me greatly. Stupid, stupid move.

I played Mercenaries before GTA:SA, and then spent the whole time in San Andreas wishing that buildings were destructible and the environment felt as real as Mercenaries.

Looking forward to a sequel if it comes out on the 360...

I checked Pandemic site and there is no listing of any system. Also everyone of thier titles are on the XBOX. It is definitely being released on the 360....guaranteed.

Mercenaries could've been good. But it just got too monotonous way too fast. The fact you could only carry two weapons pretty much brought you to always carrying an assault rifle and then a rocket launcher. The action was way too fast paced for it to be really enjoyable.

Not to mention on the PS2, the fuckers didn't even have sounds for the shotgun.

What really rubbed me the wrong way about the game, was the complete lack of handguns. I'm all for shooting and mass destruction, but goddammit, I want handguns. Pistols.

If this comes to the 360. I will buy it. If not, then I will label Lucasarts as continuing to fail.

Damn i'm dissapointed this isn't coming out for the 360. Come on Lucasarts your only making life harder for yourself by bringing it out on one format.

The first was a lot of fun. It was like a military version of GTA with better combat. :D

My biggest gripes from the first game was that I wanted to keep all the stuff I was buying. I wanted to COLLECT stuff in the game. I wanted to have a big gun rack that I could pick and choose from. A vehicle park that I could walk in and pick the vehicle I wanted to drive.

I figured I was spending all this money I was making, but if I ordered in a new weapon, I'd have to drop whatever I was carrying.

I'd also love the ability to scavenge the battlefield in the early game, you know, before your flush with cash, and collect weapons from the people I've "gotten out of my way".
