Kotaku has posted a revealing Q&A (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming//e306-super-smash-bros-brawl-qa-173071.php#more) about the new upcoming Wii title, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the article, this little gem can be found.

Has the Wii inspired you to go back create games with existing franchises that the fans have been asking for?

Miyamoto: I think you'll see that with the inclusion of Pit from Kid Icarus, that we're looking at some older franchises, but I've got so many other ideas now that I want to work on those.

maybe if you are really optimistic. he wants to work on his other ideas.
i think including pit is just to appease the fans.

Kid Icarus was a phenomenal game. If they ever make a sequel I hope they stay 2d.

Um....that didn't say shit about a Kid Icarus remake or sequel. Instead of making that first sentence bold, try bolding the part where he says "other ideas" instead. Makes it sound quite the opposite doesn't it? Desperate much?

I won't hold my breath, but I will hold on to some hope that a new Kid Icarus game will come out at some point in the life of the Wii.

I don't know what you're talking about, alienchild, Kid Icarus seems like the perfect game to make a 3D transition. Flying around shooting arrows sounds awesome to me. Of course, any new game can turn out crappy if done poorly...

Nintendo seldom ruins a franchise.

Agreed. That is a horrendously misleading title. This Q&A says nothing about a Kid Icarus remake. All it says is that Miyamoto is looking at other ideas to reawaken/reimagine older franchises.

Can we get a redname to change the title please?

This really should be taken down as news. It only reads as a Kid Icarus announcement if you choose to read it that way. (and frankly I think you have to stretch to interpret it that way even if you want to)

Kid Icarus is an old game. The question was "are we going to see more old content" he yes "Yes, since we have Pit, clearly we are using old content."

That's all that means.

Seriously, come on. If anything he's saying he ISN'T making a Kid Icarus game.
What the hell kind of news submission is this?

I like Nintendo as much as the next guy but come on. Blatantly scewing what was said for the sake of making "news" is bullshit.

I'm horribly disappointed about not seeing a new Kid Icarus game.

Which ties directly into Capcom not having anything for the Wii, besides saying an RE game IS coming.

I'm not changing my mind on this :p

Add me to the crowd of peasants with pitchforks and torches... this specifically says he's not working on it, merely vaguely saying he's open to the idea of such games being updated. Remove the news, please.

If anything, I'd even like to see a new Icarus on the DS in 2D. Anyone seen these?

You guys do know that the reason he said that is that Pit from Kid Icarus is a character in the new Smash Bros game? I see nothing confusing at all when you add that fact in, and absolutely no indication that he is hinting at a new game. They just put the character in.

Yes, this is not an indicate of a new game. Please remove this from the news. It is quite misleading and I got excited for nothing.

What we can do, however, is e-mail and petition Nintendo for a new Kid Icarus game. Who's with me on this? Anyone?

Yeah, and that's already been announced (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12542). It's even still on the front page. Why do we need a separate news post for this?

This is like making a news post that there's a new Metroid Prime game in the works, and then submitting a separate news post that says that Samus Aran is going to star in a game on the Wii.

After seeing Pit in the SSBB trailer I think he would make a great action game ala God of War. He has the bow for distance attacks, and the bow can break apart into swords.

Make it so Nintendo.

Personally, I prefer seeing a Kid Icarus game on the DS.

I thought that was the coolest part of the whole trailer.

Aside from Samus' sleek (tight!) blue suit, that is. :D

Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, Ness....did any of these guys get their own Gamecube remakes or sequels? Shit no. Case closed.

I also remember what's-his-face from Silicon Knights really teasing the shit out of a possible Kid Icarus sequel from them. He hinted that he had some really cool ideas and they would start on it after they finished MGS: Twin Snakes. We see where that went.

personally I don't know what the deal is with Kid Icarus. I never liked that game. Probably because I could never get past the firs stage.

I liked the music though.
