I love Mr. Meier's and his incredibly addictive games. Finally something has been announced that I am genuinly interested in that isn't on the Wii.

Am I the only one seeing the CIV IV engine with a different camera?

Hard to compain about that, after all, Civ IV is an awesome game.

Though my Civ IV looks nothing like that, i have to play it on lowest graphics on the tiny map without it slowing to a crawl.

I'm still not keen on the 3D graphics in this game. I've been a fan of the Railroad Tycoon series and still prefer the 2D graphics of RRT2 over RRT3 or this game. It's hard to describe but the trains and scenery just look too artificial.

Next up, Sid Meier's Penis!

I've been a fan of penis for quite some time. I bet Sid could do penis better than anyone.

It's not hard to describe, it's called art direction. That is pronounced "art direction" not "pseudo photorealism". The, as you say "artificial" look of this game isn't due to any shortcomings on Firaxis' part. They obviously picked a more saturated color pallete, illustrative look, and cartoonish scale deliberately. I'd much rather see game developers branch out and use different art styles instead of having every game try to look realistic.
