Planescape: Torment (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/planescape_torment)is available at GoG, and I wonder if anyone has a recommendation as to whether it is worth a purchase? I'm especially wondering whether the gameplay mechanics and/or graphics would be difficult to deal with, since it's such an old game. Are there any high-res texture packs out there? I used one for my copy of Diablo II and that worked wonders.

It's a great game. I still have my original copy. I think it runs at 640x480... yuck on a LCD.

You'll find a bunch of mods there that add things back in to the game and at the Spellhold link you'll find a UI mod that allows for larger resolutions (I think, been a while since I used it).
It is definitely worth a playthrough. The setting is fantastic and really stepped away from the typical Forgotten Realms thing with elves, dwarves and the like which was pushing the Infinity Engine at the time.

oh yeah this game is amazing. probably in my top 5 of all time favorites. its a shame they didnt do anything else with the story. although that is probably a good thing since its still awesome to this day. sequels can kill a good story. anyone remember how fascinating The Matrix used to be? you know...before they turned Neo into Jesus.

I have the discs in a box about 30 feet from where I'm sitting, and I still have to resist the urge to get the 'no muss no fuss' download from GOG.
I've already done the same thing with the Gabriel Knight and Phantasmagoria sets.
Excellent game.

Best written game ever.
Absolutely.
When rolling a character, make sure you have high wisdom/intelligence/charisma/whatever to make sure you have all the dialogue options available to you.
And if you don't, that's okay. Play through it again with the above! Completely changes the game.

The forum link on the GOG page has a Mod Guide.
It works great for me on Win7 32bit and ATi Radeon HD 4670.

GoG is the devil!
I am, however, about to hand that devil some money for this game. I've heard far too many good things to pass it up.

Link to the GoG forums, where the OP in this thread (http://www.gog.com/en/forum/planescape_torment/mod_guide/page1) lists some useful information on mods and such for P:T.
