From IGN.com:
- IGN Wii has learned that Nintendo is planning to showcase a Wii sequel to its classic shooter series Duck Hunt at its E3 2006 booth on Wednesday. The title will be playable. No other details about the project have yet been revealed, but we will of course serve up a full hands-on impressions when the time is right.
There is only one thing I want to know: Can I shoot the dog this time?!

Kill the dog! Kills him!

On some level this seems so silly. On some other level, this seems like the best idea ever.
No way they'll let you shoot the dog though. "Laugh it up, fuball."

Haha I loved that game as a kid. Bring it on!

If they let us finally shoot the dog, this game will sell like hotcakes (assuming they don't include it with the wii for old times sake). So many years of pent up frustration against this dog, and we can finally shoot him!

Will there be blood? ;)
I like the idea of reviving franchises that haven't seen a new game in 20 years. If they announce a new Kid Icarus and Bionic Commando game...I just don't know what I'll do.

The old game will most likely be on the virtual console for purchase, but granted... no dog killing in that one.

Groovey. This should be great.
Will the ducks fight back this time? ;)

If they made new versions of these as a side-scroller, I think that would be great!

But will there be skeet (clay pigeon/disks) shooting too!?

Oh yeah, definitely. I don't want a 3D Kid Icarus. Bionic Commando might be tough, although recent Zeldas pulled off the hookshot well in 3D, so it might work.
Some games, like Castlevania, are meant to be 2D side scrollers.

I wonder if they'll make a lightgun-esque controller for it. It's no good playing Duck Hunt if you can't pull a trigger. I'm sure the wiimote is perfectly capable of controlling the game, but the feel wouldn't be the same.

There's the trigger button under the wiimote... do you need more?

They should call it Duckhunt Blu-HD for shits and giggles...

That's more "button" than "trigger."

Hopefully there will be an easter egg that swaps the ducks for lawyers.

I hear they are going to replace the dog with Dick Cheney.
Not in the face!

I was about to write, "Another Duck Tales? Awesome!", but yeah, Duck Hunt... It definitely has place in gaming history (like Minesweeper) but it was a very trivial game and will probably continue to be.

This was a no brainer and they definitely should package it with the system. I wonder, though, with games like this and Wii Sports, if Nintendo is going to have a different pricing scale. These little games look fun, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't charge $50 for them. It will be interesting to see how they price and market them.

This is funny because the guy playing the shooter in yesterday's press conference looked like he was playing Duck Hunt. I said to myself "What the fuck, Nintendo? You're bringing back the Duck Hunt style of game play? Who the hell misses that?".

Though it was very many years ago, I don't remember of any dog from the game :-| Maybe it wasn't annoying enough. Poor dog getting hate it doesn't deserve.

Ign also has info on a gun peripheral. Apparently you just hook it up to the remote and use it like the classic light gun. And was Duck Hunt really twenty years ago? That is enough to inspire momentary panic attacks about getting old.

So it sounds like we are going to get milked for all it's worth with these "peripherals"
Here comes the tennis racket, golf club, baseball bat, gun, n64 case, classic case, nes case, boomerang, sword and shield, and anything else someone can think of.

I thought the gun peripheral was just a fan-from-the-forum's mock up? Unless you can link us EG?

I agree and I think they better really be careful. They keep adding peripherals and they are going to lose that audience they are tryinig to attract. They need to keep it simple. The more little gizmos they add, the more complicated and the more like a cheap toy it seems.
That said, a gun peripheral doesn't sound that bad. It's something every previous console has had, and I imagine since the tech is already built into the remote, it should be a fairly cheap addon. But the first time I see a "tennis racket" or "sword" peripheral, that's when I begin to turn on them.
