You remember that time those dastardly do-nothings at Toybane (http://www.toybane.com) snuck into the Head Offices (TM) of Evil Avatar and switched KefkaTaran's name to red? Well, bapenguin does! And he's going to live to regret the day he ever left that screen door open!

So what's been happening at Toybane during the week that was lost from Evil Avatar? Plenty! We kicked the week off by gathering all the Toybane editors for Know Our Roots! Check out our discussion on representations of war in video games (http://toybane.com/?p=93). Then see what turns up when Kenny takes a look at games that should have been copied in Why Not Clone Me? (http://toybane.com/?p=95)

Not enough Toybane for you? You might want to take a gander at this week's Toybane at Play (http://toybane.com/?p=94), which finds the Toybane folk playing lots of Dreamfall and finally starting to pull ourselves away from Oblivion. Meanwhile, Spigot helps us find out about Videogame Archaeology (http://toybane.com/?p=98). This is somewhat related to the term we've adopted to describe what we do at Toybane, videogame anthropology.

Finally, I kicked off a new weekly article this weekend. Be sure to read the first in a series exploring the seedy underground of video games journalism. I like to call this one From the Doorway Looking In (http://toybane.com/?p=105).

Toybane (http://www.toybane.com): Have you hugged a gnome (or a console) today?

Aha! How convenient.

No, really, this beats the hell out of wading through the newsposts on toybane. To me, the lengthier articles are the meat. So keep making these newsposts here, please.

Agreed. Much of toybane is barely above the level of what we'll find in the EvAv forum posts. Some of it is quality though.

And the color scheme gives me hives.

I <3 you guys anyway though.

Not only did I let the flies in...I let the damn Kefkatarans in too. Curse that screen door.

I hate the site and it's look. Someone change it soon or I'll stop visiting.

The original articles are entertaining, though. Some have good insight.

Yeah...most do. Except the ones by that "kenny" guy. What a retard.

I preferred Kelegacy when he at least pretended to be 'cool' - not the bitter old hag he's turned into.

I've always been a bitter hag. I'm even starting to see a nasty trend in my articles...always lamenting, boo-hooish. I fail to see the positives in the hobby I love sometimes. It's something I need to curb.

You are just seeing the real me. And I've stopped taking my Prozac. Was making my balls shrink.

Ah, so that's how I managed to fit them both in my mouth that time! :)

In all seriousness though, it's only natural that one experiences peaks and troughs with something they spend so much of their time on. For example, I was scratching my head last night over the amount of games I have unfinished and started to question whether or not I was forcing myself to be a gamer just because.

That is a problem I think we all face. Do I enjoy games as much as I used to? The answer is a mixed bag, but there is also the limited time factor now that I'm a working adult, so I don't want to spend EVERY free second playing games. That isn't much of a life. Certain trends really frustrate me as a fan, but if they get too out of hand and warp the hobby I've enjoyed since I was 3 or 4, I'll just walk away. I have lots of books and writing to catch up on anyway.

If you met me in real life, you'd know that I don't suffer from stereotypical gaming geek problems.

Planning to, my man. Glad you enjoy them. :) And, yeah, these just gather up the original content (i.e. stuff that's not just posting about news from other sources).

Pshaw. You know we be the best. But we'll try to fix that color thing soon. ;)

You need to get that shit fixed! Also: the server stuff. :p

I had that thought as well. I realized that I was playing a lot of games just because I felt obligated to. The "hobby" had become work - ick.

Do not respond to my trolling, it only validates it!
