Microsoft sends word that the May Artist of the Month on XBox Live Marketplace is The Fray. The Denver-based rock group whose debut album with Epic Records, “How to Save A Life” is a mainstay on the Billboard 200 charts will have their latest video “Over My Head” available for download in HD as well as being available to play in the Game With Fame segment on Live.

There is also a contest to win a chance to see the band Live.

All entries will have the opportunity to win a Grand Prize trip to Chicago where they’ll be on hand for the Fray’s show at the House of Blues. The Grand Prize winner will also win an Xbox 360 console while other lucky winners will get a chance to play the band online over Xbox Live. Xbox 360 is also presenting The Fray on tour with 18 dates across the US and Canada, for more information on the tour, check out http://www.hob.com/tickets/tours/2006thefray/
I've never heard of these guys. Are they any good? As long as it's not country, it will fit my taste in music. (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12213)

I like that song 'Over My Head (Cable Car)'... 'How to Save A Life' (title track) is decent too. Those are the only two I've heard. My radio station has been playing them for like a year.

What's with the constant hate on country? I'm no fan (especailly garbage like "She Thinks my Tractor's Sexy"), but country rock can have it's merits. I point to the excellent wordsmith Steve Berman of The Silver Jews. They aren't bad. I enjoyed them alot more before they made it big and went mainstream, but that tends to happen with bands...

Country isn't the same as, like, downhome southern rock. Country is a great deal about pagentry and theatrics. It's like the pro wrestling of the music world, and ironically draws the same crowd.

I'm all for some jangly scalawag southern rock. It's the other stuff I can't stand. The accents. Oh lord, the accents.

I think this 'Artist of the Month' crap is pointless and stupid. Does anyone use their 360 to watch this shit?

The Fray is a decent band with a good sound. The first song on the album is also pretty good, but overall, it's a solid album. Considering how shitty music is now days, it's nice to find a band that doesnt need to scream (unless you're Tool, in which case you can do whatever the fuck you want) to make good music.
