D3Publisher of America, Tomy Corporation and VIZ Media send along a Press Release announcing two new Naruto titles for the Nintendo Gamecube and Game Boy Advance.

North America has gone wild over NARUTO – Believe it! Following the successful launch of NARUTO: Clash of Ninja and NARUTO: Ninja Council in March 2006, D3Publisher of America, Inc. (D3PA) and TOMY Corporation will present NARUTO: Clash of Ninja 2 for Nintendo GameCube and NARUTO: Ninja Council 2 for Nintendo Game Boy Advance at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from May 10-12, 2006. The latest video games follow the storyline of VIZ Media’s hit anime series SHONEN JUMP’s NARUTO, and will feature more playable characters, new locations and added gameplay features including multiplayer modes for up to four players.

NARUTO: Clash of Ninja 2, developed exclusively for Nintendo GameCube, will offer non-stop ninja style combat action for 1-4 players where gamers choose to play as one of 23 total available characters. All-new multi-player modes will engage players in frantic simultaneous four player battles and single-player modes will offer more gameplay choices than before with survival and timed attack modes that allow players to showcase their taijutsu and special jutsu abilities. Developed by 8ing, NARUTO: Clash of Ninja 2 is anticipated for release in September 2006.

The second Game Boy Advance title in the series, NARUTO: Ninja Council 2 builds on the storyline of the first game and will allow players to switch between 3 unique characters on the fly to strategically conquer each challenging level. All-new multiplayer modes offer head-to-head action or cooperative play for up to four players. Developed by Aspect, Ninja Council 2 is anticipated to be released in Fall 2006.

NARUTO takes place in a world where ninja hold the ultimate power. Infused with the spirit of a once fearsome Nine-Tailed Fox, Naruto Uzumaki is a ninja-in-training who is learning the art of Ninjutsu with his classmates Sakura and Sasuke. The trio studies under the instruction of their teacher, Kakashi, who helps the group face dangerous and daunting tests and challenges. Through their adventures, the young ninja learn the importance of friendship, teamwork, loyalty, hard work, creativity, ingenuity, and right versus wrong.

I'll look forward to getting to play this when I get my Revolution. Of course Clash of Ninja came out stateside after my Cube was stolen. I had fun playing the import a friend had of it. The best way I've been able to describe the game is like a 3D Smash Brothers.

The english version of this series is so dumbed down that it physically pains me to see, hear or otherwise be exposed to it.

Yes I hear the fourth one is the best so far (http://www.planetgamecube.com/reviewArt.cfm?artid=4483).
BTW, Naruto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naruto), for you lazy bastards that won't look it up yourselves.

Don't bother with the gamecube ones released in the US, if you're a fan of the series do yourself a favor and import the 4th and grab a freeloader disk. The menu's take some trial and error, but given a day or two you'll be flipping through them with no problem (and online guides like at Gamefaqs also help).
The fourth has way more characters, far better balanced characters, and three person tag team matches, including 3 person super moves (and special ones for each team) and the ability to continue combo's between different characters.

And yes, the game is fun, perhaps not quite as much if you're not a fan of the series, but its a strangely well balanced fighting game. Sort of reminds me of SSBM, relying on timing and efficiency rather then long hard to memorize combos (although knowing a few certainly helps ^^).

Heh, sorry for the rant, but I've actually imported 2, 3, and 4 when they came out and enjoyed each one more then the one before it.

They should just skip 2 and 3 and just give us 4. But of course they gotta pimp the 3 year old game some more.

Does anyone have the latest PS2 Naruto fighter either?

I agree with Leto. 8ing is translating the japanese fighting games in order, which is stupid because each new version is a considerable improvement over the one before it. The current release in Japan is Naruto 4, while the current release in the US is Naruto 1? I'll stick with my import, thanks.

With that said, the Naruto fighting games are the most fun I've ever had playing fighting games. The four-player battle royale makes for an excellent party game, and the game has enough depth to keep two players going all night long. The fighting is fast and furious, but a button masher can't beat an experienced player. The characters are the most balanced I've ever seen while still being extremely varied and being true to the characters in the anime.

I heartily recommend the Naruto fighting games to anyone who likes Naruto, or anyone who likes fighting games. If you don't have the money to import Naruto 3 (my favorite) or 4, at least wait until Naruto 2 is released in the US. The addition of 4 player mode and the extra characters make it worth the wait.

Naruto-Anime about ninja schools, and the graduates thereof.

Naruto-Another anime that is disembowled when it goes through the translation process, to make it "safe" for kids.

Whether or not you care for the series, the fighting games are strangly fun. My friends and I were huge fans of Naruto 3 and picked up 4 as soon as we could. Except for a few "cheap" characters, an expert player can win with anyone. The amazing character balance makes playing a lot of fun as you can be a different character each fight. The chakra system provides some good depth to the fighting - do you save it to try and pull off a special move or do you use it to duck out of that combo you just got caught in? A recommended "try it" for those who like fighting games.

For those who have played Naruto 4 - what idiot revised the character select screen? Having to move through characters in order and waiting for the animations to load isn't devastating to the game, but it is damn annoying. Bitching aside, what are your favorite characters to play as? I'm a fan of Gaara, Neji, and Tenten.
