"If Kayne & Lynch 2: Dog Days wasn't enough gaming action for you, Hoyle adds to our weekly release list with a whole suite of new casino games including: Hoyle Card Games 2011, Hoyle Casino Games 2011, Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2011 and Hoyle Slots 2011.
If that isn't enough hot gaming action, check out Casino.org for more games of chance."
What gives? This reads like a commercial, casino.org looks like a standard paid portal (Very common in the online casino business, basically you pay for a good review) and the thread is locked. Why?

I got a Hoyle casino suite awhile back, it was actually pretty damn good. Mostly I just wanted to learn to play craps though :P

Yes, it was a paid advertisement. We're discussing the best way to post them.

Well, that sure as hell wasnt it :P If your gonna try to do those kind of ads, at the very least add a disclaimer. If people start looking at EA like just another bought and paid for games review site, its gonna go down, and fast.

Maybe create a dummy-red account who posts all of the paid-ad topics.

Due to the fact that the company wants their links picked up by crawlers, you can't put anything really obvious in the headline or text like "advertisement".
It was kind of a one-time deal (???) and I hesitated to do it, but they paid for a months worth of hosting. In the end, that sealed the deal. Keeping the lights on over the summer when news is slow seemed like a good idea. :)
I don't think it should go without saying that the person complaining about the ad is a Yellow. If all of our active registered users had donated during the donation drive, we wouldn't need any advertising at all. ;)
(Oh, and Hoyle isn't the advertising company... those are real games that were released this week.)

Didn't even notice that it was an ad, well actually just scrolled by it, glanced at it for half a second and kept scrolling. Hoyle still had one of the best TV ads. :D

I dont mind EA having ads (of course, its what keeps EA up!), its the way it was posted i object to. By posting "news" for pay, it tarnishes the sites rep, and on a personal note it annoys me.
I would be very wary of any casino ads btw, there are *alot* of shifty companies around. This seems to be a pretty standardized scam, selling "reviews" for shitsites then offering bad bonuses that give a kickback to the site. There are worse though, the T6 "company" was a pokersite that scammed alot of people out of alot of money. They had a huuuge media blitz in europe atleast, where u can still find ads long after the site itself was shown to be a pyramid-scheme.
BTW, i would donate if i 1. Had any money. 2. You stopped posting personal crap ;) If you want it to be your personal blog, pay for it, or get it ad-supported. (Which i guess u are)

Much like other "personal" items that are put on the website, please try and remember the frequency of them. Which is to say, rarely.

Thanks for being open about it, Reds.
When I saw the Hoyle add I thought it seemed a bit off, but only because casino games aren't a common topic on this site.
Do what you need to do to keep the site running. A disclaimer of some sort would be nice, but so long as the ads aren't too common, it shouldn't be much of a worry.
