View Full Version : Halo 3 2 Minute Trailer at E3?

IGN (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/703/703671p1.html) is reporting that Microsoft and Bungie's Halo 3 will be making an appearance at E3 in the form of a 2 Minute trailer consisting of all real time footage.
The video is allegedly two minutes long, although its contents weren't divulged. We're guessing a wild breathtaking battle on Earth. Knowing Microsoft, the publisher will want to show all real, in-game engine footage to counter Sony's fantastical CG videos from E3 2005.
I'm sure we'll see SOMETHING from Halo 3 at E3...if anything a banner that says "Halo 3: Coming soon to the XBox 360."
If there IS a 2 minute trailer, we better see it up on Marketplace in HD soon after it's unveiling!

I wonder if bungy is getting sick of only making Halo games. I remember after Halo 2 came out they were saying that there next title would NOT be halo 3. I guess that went out the window.

Even if Live can support streaming, I doubt it could handle that many people all streaming the presentation at once. Downloading a recorded video makes more sense, and fits with Live's current technology.

Yeah bungie is probably tired of cranking out Halo's as much as the people at ubi are tired of making Tom Clancy games on the same three franchises. They'd probably be tired of unemployment to. But Ubi let's one team make something, then sends it on to a different group. Here Shanghai do this version, french part 5 is your job. West make this and so on. Bungie doesn't seem to have grown. They make one game every once in a while. You'd think with Microsoft they could get money to fund another team working on the next big thing.

meh. It's just like id saying: Our next game won't be Doom/Quake. every. single. time. It just doesn't make sense for them to leave money on the table.
Though I have been wondering as of late, what if everyone's telling the truth?
Bungie's said they're not making it. Microsoft keeps saying it's being made.
Are Microsoft ballsy enough to have pushed it off to another dev group?

No, Peter Moore has also said that Bungies next product is not going to be Halo. Putting out a 2 minute trailer doesn't have anything to do with the game being released, I would think. It's probably just hype to counter the PS3 E3 news the same way PS3 put out their fake Killzone movie to counter the Xbox release.
In fact, I think it would be hilarious and a fantastic turnabout for MS to put out a prerendered Halo film that smoked that Killzone movie just to get even.

Possible but I don't think MS are ballsy enough to pull such a move. MS wouldn't allow any other dev group to touch Halo.

As excited as I am for Halo 3, I'd love to see Bungie reacquire the rights to Myth and make a next-gen sequel or even a remake. There's a game that seems to be ideally suited not only to consoles, but perfect for Live or even Live Arcade.

Bungie have grown by a little bit, haven't they? What was that story that came out a few months ago about them essentially doubling their team? Microsoft brushed it off as a normal occurrence in the company's life cycle.
I surmised maybe they had 2 teams, one working on Halo 3 and the other doing some concept work on another project. We know they're working on Halo 2 Vista.
From their weekly updates, it seems they're working on 1 project.

If Halo was PC exclusive it would have been a 19.99 budget title sitting on the shelf next to Deer Hunter 5. I would rather cut my hands off with a dull knife, and use my two remaining nubs to poke at my the keyboard keys and nudge my mouse than use a control pad for a fps. Lemme guess, the big new thing with Halo 3 will be that you can wield 3 guns at once? And will Halo 3 actually take place on earth? Or maybe Halo 2 did in fact take place entirely on earth and I didn't realize because I didn't wait long enough for the earth texture to pop in?

I think it would be incredible if they really announced Pimps at Sea as a full fledged, 3d title. Or even just release the 2d one on Xbox Live Arcade, you know it would sell.
Could this game be the ultimate goal behind Bungie's lowering of standards with the previous two? They may have played this masterfully as an average game comes out and is cheered as "best ever".

I can't wait for another multiplayer game on 360 with proper multiplayer support. GRAW was pretty good but this is just not very friendly...come on patch, if ever. EA hates us all. Wow way, way OT ;)
I don't see many people championing the greatness of BF2:MC though.

I absolutely dispise pre-rendered game video.
Companies might as well hire Pixar, Lucasfilms, Disney etc, to make their videos look really great.
Once they come out it's always, "hey, the gameplay actually matters and what the heck it doesn't look nearly as good or what happened to the frame rate and where are the 10,000 flying dragons I saw in the pre-rendered video????"
I'd like to see this... How about a movie company uses a video gameplay footage to show you what the movie will look like??? Why because the movie doesn't look anything like the video game of the movie.
Addionally, that's why they show filmed footage. Gee, maybe that's why game companies do that too. Everything looks great pre-rendered!

In response to some of the E3 Sony pre-rendered stuff, I read an article a while ago about marketing video games from EA's perspective. The Director of Advertising for EA was talking about selling 'experiences' and it was on purpose that they show little in game footage for their games. They'd rather sell you the idea of what you can do, rather than show you the actual game being played.
It's an interesting strategy, and probably really does help the sales. You have to remember, barely any companies market the hard core audience, they're mainly looking for Joe Window shopper who picks titles based on their cover art.

THis is gonna be good. I just can't wait for a release date. And if a game is supposed to have a sequel, I don't want it to end with a resolution. That's the panzy way out.

I belong to niether of these species known as "fanboys" nor "trolls". I'm tired of being so manipualted by developers! Halo 2, was in my opinion, was a well made game, that had a few slight pitfalls. Halo 3 ("Forunner", if that floats your boat), will give the series the closure that Halo 2 was lacking. Regarding this ill-fated "2 Minute Trailer"....It's....well...umm...ill-fated. Of course this was back when a majority of the Halo community believed there was no Halo 3 and that Bungie's next title was not Halo related, as Bungie so claimed.
Regardless, I don't think there's much Microsoft can do otherwise at this point. After H3 is shown, E3 belongs to them.
