Runestone sends along word that they are offering a two-for-one monthly deal on Seed (http://www.seedthegame.com/), their upcoming Sci Fi MMORPG.

Runestone Game Development announced today a special offer, buy two-months, pay for only one for Seed, its upcoming genre-shattering massively multiplayer game, launching on May 2nd.

"The intro-offer is a big thank you to our loyal community and beta testers. At the same time we hope newcomers will seize the opportunity and experience the Seed world for themselves," said Lars Kroll Kristensen, CEO of Runestone Game Development.

Seed will be available for download at www.seedthegame.com (http://www.seedthegame.com/) with a 14-day free trial. The monthly subscription rate will be €13.00 or $15.00. The introduction offer is available in May only and will cover the first two months.

For more information about Seed, please visit www.seedthegame.com. (http://www.seedthegame.com./)

From what I saw of the beta, I wasn't impressed. If the game worked or had anything to do, this might be a good deal.

<sigh> MMOs have gone by the wayside for me... can't even bring myself to try any more free trials since I was in the Auto Assault beta.

Until someone develops an MMO that I don't feel like has been engineered to be one massive, pointless timesink, I think I'll stay away from them altogether. I prefer to be able to enjoy a game and then find closure--something sadly lacking in WoW and all the other MMOs. (Unless you count the closure of finally retiring my poor, sad Paladin--rest thee well, Maithyas.)

The beta of this at least, is interesting, graphics wise, but there really aren't things like "gameplay" or "content." at all. Skills appear to run as per Eve, where you just learn your chosen skill as you play, regardless of what you're doing. the story is cool. thats about it. The idea of the game appeals to me, but as far as the beta goes, its crap. I expect that it will actually become a... "game" at some point though, with... things to do. And.. I dunno. a reason to walk around randomly.

I like the idea of this game, but from what I hear it didn't really pan out the way they planned.

Its a nice idea, but doesn't fit well with the current MMO market. Now if it was more of a free, occassional indulgence then it might work.

Yea, I am still in beta, and this game is slowly getting better. But its definitly not something I would play money to play. Maybe if runestone put in some kind of Amazing AI NPC system like they promised, then I might care.

Heh I didn't think this would be worthy of an annoucement. Every single MMO out there offers one month free play when you buy game. Thats exactly what this offer is, only they are advertising it like its something special.

I played the beta for about 10 hours and then had to stop. There just wasn't anything to do. You run around fixing panels on the walls and floor, and thats about it. This game is supposed to be about roleplay, but their chat system is clunky enough to make that rather hard. The entire time I was playing it I only heard one person speak, and they were asking how to play the game. They were directed to the website.

You should probably read the announcement again.

The game is free to download with a 14 day free trial. After that, it's about 15 bucks a month. If you sign up in May, you get two months for the price of one. If you sign up later, there's no extra month included.

I don't see any info that the game will be free and the only cost will be a monthly subscription. Furthermore since they keep talking about a retail release I highly doubt that it will be free. The only info I see is that you can download a free 14 day trial.

Since their game sucks and very few people will actually play it after their free months are up I doubt they will be making it a free 'retail' release anyway. Instead they will want to get as much money out of people as quickly as they can to recover development cost. Most MMO's simply charge people the full retail price of the game after their 14 day trial is up, thats probably what will happen here.

Look up. It's written in the original post.

Or you can check out the FAQ (http://www.seedthegame.com/press.php?page=23) on their website.

What will it cost to play Seed?

It will be free of charge to download the game client and to play the game for two weeks. From there on we charge a monthly fee; the price will be around 13-15 Euros.

Really? So you didn't actually play the game? Were you in a ring? Did you see any sicknesses based on the environment? Which class were you, engineering? What was your skillset? Did you engineer anything that was useful to other people? What was it? I'd like to hear a bit more about your beta experience.

Hmm worth the 15 euros or not, it would be cool to gather a team of EvAv members download the client and try it together for the free two weeks.

I know I am up for it.

Also people who were in beta - write sth about the actual gameplay. Fixing panels on the walls ?? WTF ? Seriously ?! Some info would be appreciated - skill system , experience and level advancing etc.

From the website :

What Seed is not about
- Combat
- Character classes
- Standard quests

 Risky , but may be something new and creative.

I walked around. I fixed panels on the walls and floors, using tools I found in my inventory. I learned several skills, which helped me to make better tools and fix more panels. I did not join a group, or a clan or whatever system they had, as I figured the game was unfinished and I didn't feel like messing with other people who also have nothing to do.

I LIKED the graphics. Very comic-bookish. I would be willing to give it another shot in a month or so maybe.
