With the release of PSP FirmWare 2.70, also came the release of a demo for the quirky Japanese game Loco Roco (http://www.loclroco.jp). You do need FirmWare 2.70 to play the demo which you can download from Here (http://66.249.93.104/translate_c?hl=en&langpair=ja%7Cen&u=http://www.jp.playstation.com/R/dl0425_locoroco).
You need to put the eboot in a folder in the GAME directory called UCJS10041.

Quite a fun game. Wish the PSP had more titles like this.

wow, in before the trolls.
I have both and love them both for different reasons. The PSP has some fantastic games, especially lately with Syphon Filter, Daxter, the Megaman remake, and others. The DS has those distinctly Nintendo experiences (Mario, Animal Crossing, Brain Age, Kirby) that only the plumber can deliver so well.
If you're in it for the games and want something else to accompany your DS, then I'd say to check the stuff that's available and if it looks appealing then go for it.
Of course this post will be followed up with a bazillion follow ups about how bad commodity x sucks or how awesome commodity y is over commodity x, so take it with a grain of salt.

I tried the demo this morning. It's every bit as fun as I hoped it would be. It will be a definite buy for me when it comes out later this year.
As long as it stays exclusive to PSP I won't feel as bad about my purchase of the PSP. There's really been nothing to play on it since launch and I've kind of been regretting my purchase. More games like this would make me quite happy.

Is this due for a US release?

As far as I know, yes. Gamespot say's it's out in Q3 in the US. Q2 in Japan. No solid release dates yet.

I have sold my PSP and have a DS only now. The main thing I always thought to myself when I was playing things like GTA and Socom (and especially Burnout) was that I could have put that money toward the console version and been happier. It's also a pain if you don't have enough time to, say, finish a mission and you want to listen to music. You pretty much have to start all over again. If there was a quicksave feature for all games so you could use other functions, it would help tremendously. That 2 hour game of Lumines wouldn't sting so bad if I could take a break and go to bed and not think the next day think, "Crap I can't listen to music because I'm in the middle of my game!" But I mainly played mine at home and not "on the go". What the hell do I know? And Sony really just pisses me off lately, in general. But I have become pretty spoiled using a Nintendo handheld again with pretty much instant gameplaying without millions of screens and menues to go through all the time. I am not totally anti-PSP like when I first sold it, though because I sort of miss it sometimes. If they would drop UMD and go with a hard drive, that would help them TREMENDOUSLY as well.

>>Should I buy a PSP?
Six months ago you could actually say that the PSP was light on quality games, but that has changed recently. There are now over 100 PSP games, 25 of them getting either great to excellent reviews.

or a revolution controller maybe?
one of the secret areas sort of works like a pinball machine and it was frustrating, other than that the game was really fun once I finally figured it out. Id really love to see this type of game with a tilting controller either on a tilt pack or for revolution though.

I'm sorry. This is too little, too late. I've already got too many fabulous games to look back at my PSP.
Sure, there may be a non-port gem hidden in the mountains of UMDs and accessories out there, but everyone I know has given up on the PSP.
When on the road, I take my cell phone, my iPod and my DS lite, cause each is the best at what it does.

If it wasnt for the RSS ability, I would never have used the PSP at all in the past 6 months, but I use it to stream podcasts and listen to them around the house. That being said, it doesnt take up file space like podcasts do on an Ipod. If the ipod had wifi and could do the same thing Id probably use the Ipod instead.
I prefer streaming a podcast. I usually have no need whatsoever to have a backup or have it take space on my hard drive or media device.
Wow, Loco Roco is freakin' incredible. Best game I've played in a long time. Hopefully the full thing measures up.

Loco Roco rocks. It reminds me of the first time I played Katamari.
It has a very unique style, looks beautiful, has awesome music, and it's rather fun to boot.
Wow what a fun crazy little game, lol cant stop playing!!!

It was very fun. I played it through more than a dozen times and collected every item 100%. I noted earlier that one part was frustrating, and its much less frustrating if you are doing the pinball machine like hidden area as a bigger character. When I got to it earlier I hadnt collected as many fruit things so my character was smaller and it was harder to aim in that room.
I bought Ridge Racer on launch because everything else was meh and even RR was meh. I got GTA and it was fairly good but the controls are frustrating in difficult combat situations. I lost hope for the psp as a gaming device but this Loco Roco game is amazing, and the 2D looks absolutely flawless graphically compared to the jaggy 3d that the system is otherwise capable of.
If this game comes out in the north america im definetly getting it.
