Check out Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) for all the details (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=9031).

Following the continuing sale of both the name and assets of bankrupted game publisher Acclaim, whose name has already returned to gaming, thanks to former Activision executive Howard Marks, the final assets left over from repeated auctions of Acclaim assets are now being put on the block by David R. Maltz & Co.

According to an official notice from the auctioneer received by Gamasutra, the final auction for remaining Acclaim assets will take place on May 11, 2006 at 1:00 pm in the office of the auctioneer in Plainview, New York.

An official Acclaim IP sale website has again been set up, and this time the auction rights to all the games will be disposed of in bulk, after a December 2005 attempt to auction the rights individually apparently failed or was scrapped.
Let's see, I have seven bucks in my wallet, some change in my pocket... I'm going to buy the rights to Rise of the Robots!

I loved Mortal Kombat on my Amiga 500. I loved Turok on my first Voodoo card.

What has become of thou Akklaim?

I wouldn't keep Acclaim if you gave it to me.

I'd go in on a purchase of the Army Men franchise just to ensure they could never make anymore games with it ever again.

I thought it was 3DO who killed that license, not Acclaim.

In any case, prepare to cry - Army Men: Major Malfunction (http://www.gametab.com/xbox/army.men.major.malfunction/5241/).

Rise of the Robots! Oh how I had such high anticipation for that game, only to be catastrophically destroyed when the demo came out and I was able to see just how spectacularly awful it was.

However, I do have to say that the sequel, ROTR2, was actually fairly good. Of course, the gameplay couldn't stand up to the perfection that was OMF:2097, but it was still a solid game (in a dilluted genre) nonetheless.

Proof positive that you can't keep a money-spinning license down for long. :p

So you're saying it's only a matter of time before we see another BloodRayne game? <shudder>

It seems no one actually read the website, but just the list of games. In big block letters on either end of the list, it says TO BE SOLD IN BULK ONLY. In other words, you can't just buy one game, you have to buy them all. Hell, the press release on this site even says that they're being sold in bulk.

Ecco the Dolphin, Double Dragen 2&3, Mortal Kombat 1&2, NBA Jam, Populous, Myst are just a few of the games I would play if there was a way to downlod them on the cheap. A smart company with a way to distribute these games could make a killing with minimal investment. Let the Live/GameTap bidding war begin.

I feel compelled to speak here: seven dollars and change is far too much to pay for Rise of the Robots. :D (thinks again: someone should just rip the graphics, and tie them back together with a -real- -game-.)

PS: I'm only biter coz once upon a time, when I was young and stupid, I bought it. :)
