We've posted up a review (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=258945#post258945) of the Buttkicker LFE Kit from Guitammer (http://www.thebuttkicker.com/Home%20Theater%20Products.html).

What is the Buttkicker? It's a frequency effects shaker that allows for a more immersive gaming and movie experience.

I don't know why, but I saw this thing a while back on a Japanese net TV site (http://impress.tv/) and it reminded me of the infamous Rez vibrator (http://www.gamegirladvance.com/archives/2002/10/26/sex_in_games_rezvibrator.html).
No, wait, I do know why.

Stuff like this is so sad.

If you can't accurately reproduce LFE with your current setup, you need a new sub, not a gimmick amp and 4 microsubs under your chair.

Low frequencies are omnidirectional. The fact they want you to place their units underneath your chair should be telling you something.

This is not a sub. It complements the sub. The reason it goes underneath the chair so ONLY the chair is vibrating. This is a completely different effect than the sound and vibration produced by a sub.

Not only will you do it, you will also feel it, and it will feel good.

Never was your sig more appropriate than when posting this review. :)

I bet this would be good with a good tense game like GRAW and RE 5 :D

I remember a game in the arcades called Steel Talons. Fantastic helicopter gunship simulator for the time. It had the joystick, pedals the lot. Anyways that had a chair that vibrated and bolted when you got shot etc. It was very effective shat myself many a time.

At $29 I dunno, maybe. But at freakin $400 this is funnier than a Phantom-Duke Nukem Forever bundle.

so it is even worse, falling into the description of "pure gimmick".

I'm not a big fan of force feedback even when it is attempting to accurately reproduce a real-world sensation. When they go even farther and decide to arbitrarily shake a chair to provide immersion, I've just got to laugh.

Charging people $400 for this false addition to the experience just makes fools out of both parties involved.

You obviously know nothing about audio. This is not a gimmick. This setup would be great for apartment dwellers who can not get the same effect from sub woofers, and since it augments the lower frequencies of sub woofers, everyone could benefit from it. While the price is kind of high, I can see this being a component that you will keep for the rest of your life, assuming that the quality is there and it lasts that long.

"false addition" my ass.

Every day I feel LFE. I live on the 4th floor of a wood framed building where there is a busy bus route right in front of me, every time a bus drives by I feel it rumble my couch. I think this is a product of the building being built on a swamp.
I suggest you go to the AVS forums and see what posts are there on LFE's you will learn a thing or two.

This 'Scrotum-kicker' sounds like a good idea for a present... to your worst enemy.
