Behold, 16 bit power! 2 layer scrolling! 512 colors! Awesome sound! Compact yet powerful game tapes!

Did anyone have one of these? I was the only one i knew with one. IMO the games still hold up even better than lots of super nintendo and genesis games do. 2 things that stood out, the colors were bright and the sound had its own flavor. Great system!

Are you, by chance, synesthetic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia)?

I didn't own one, but totally wanted it, a Neo Geo, and a CD-i. Kind of glad I didn't get any of them. I did get one of these though:

Still got it too.

My buddy has one, the turbo CD, just about every game, and a turbo express. Since he had that covered it's one of the older consoles I didn't collect.

That would make a great fail pic considering they are using the Scramble overlay for Mine Storm.

Yeah, but its more of a fail for you simply by knowing that. Nerd.

You fail at reading forums. It's #8 on my top 10 countdown. http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118366

You fail at failing me: I don't read arbitrary countdown lists.

Also: Nerd.

He's completely right. There's no cartridge in the slot, and therefore the Vectrex is defaulting to it's built in game, Mine Storm.

Hahaha, yeah, lol, you're not crazy :P It's not even that rare to have mild symptoms like that. The rare cases are the extreme form of the condition, like people who can't see visually at all, but instead see sounds (only) and taste sight and feel flavors.

Many synesthetics see flashes of light when they hear a loud sound. Another guy I read about could feel flavors, and knew when the chicken was perfectly spiced because he could reach out with his hand and actually feel the flavors as being pointy and sharp, and keylime pie felt like smooth cool columns that actually had 3D shape he could feel.

I have two to this day. The card games were very polarizing. There were a few gems, like most of the shooters. However, most were TERRIBLE. I mean really, the dregs of gaming. Almost all their side-scrollers and sports games were truly abysmal.

The CD games tended to fare a little better, but the add-on was just so expensive.

In my opinion, Genesis and SNES games have held up far better. Blazing Lazers is good, but Streets of Rage 2 is in a whole other realm of quality. Military Madness is entertaining, but Herzog Zwei or Metal Marines are lightyears ahead of it. You can say the same for almost every good game in the TG-16 lineup, especially the ones that made it to North America.

Yeah you have a point, the majority were stinkers, just like most systems. The genesis games always seemed buggy to me and did not have enough polish. I think also its my most loved system because of the time of my life when i got it. All was good in the world. Legendary axe, zonk, nuetopia, devils crush, dragon curse, dungeon explorer (badass music) aero blasters were all great and just about perfect.

I have yet to play any CD games. I wont emulate them. To this day Lords and gates of thunder still hold same amount of awesomeness they did back then. I will pick up a DUO and play these 2 games sooner or later.
