Today in Tokyo, Clover Studios held a press conference to commemorate the upcoming launch of its groundbreaking action game Okami.

While the game hits shelves in Japan on April 20, the real news from the Okami event was about Clover's next project. The press event gave producer Atsushi Inaba and director Hideki Kamiya an opportunity to discuss the game's long development process--as well as officially announce their newest game, God Hand.

After discussing Okami's graphical evolution and the extensive fine-tuning process to achieve the right level of difficulty, the developers gave the attending press a brief preview of their newest game, God Hand, according to a Dengeki Online report and Capcom Japan's Web site.

This will be the second completely new property developed by Clover Studios since Capcom set up the independent development house in 2004.

If Okami turns out to be any good, then God Hand will be worth keeping an eye on. The teaser site doesn't give much away, other than silly humor.

Okami has been on my "Games to Watch" list since I first saw a screenshot of it. It looks spectacular, and I'm really hoping that it will turn out to be a worthwhile game.

It's nice to see that Cody found work, but what about Mike Haggar, did he get elected to another term as mayor of Metro City?

Not related to Berserk? Feh.

Has Okami's North American release date been pushed back? The most recent EGM still says May 2006, yet all the game sites are now saying September 2006.

Okami got a 39/40 from Famitsu. Don't know if that mean's anything, since I don't know how reliable Famitsu is. But, I figure it can't be complete crap, right?

God Hand seems potentially cool, just from the trailer. BAM BAM BAM Ding! HA HA! Now, all we need is Okami over here to make the world better.

Viewtiful Joe did enough to keep the next 3 or 4 games from Clover Studios on my radar. Even if Okami stinks, I'll still give their next few games a look. I love the style and originality coming out of this dev house.

The title reminds me of a line from Kung Fu Hustle:

"Look at this fist! Have you ever seen a fist this big?"

The demo of Okami in the OPM March issue (I believe) was pretty sweet. The game looks to live up to everything I'd expected of it. Hopefully the release date will stick with the June 1st date that my local EB is telling me and not get pushed back much further.

God Hand looks pretty sweet. But I just want my Okami!

I'm pretty sure Okami will be excellent, based on the demo and Inaba's comments, but God Hand doesn't really interest me yet. I have yet to see anything novel about it.

Innovation = Punching people in the balls and it making a 'BONG' sound.

I just pre-ordered it. Can't say no to innovation.
