TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com) is reporting that a new Marvel Game, Ultimate Marvel: Alliance, is in the works.
You can read the whole article here (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10715/Ultimate-Marvel-Game-in-the-Works/).
Last year, Marvel Entertainment signed video game licensing agreements with different publishers, granting Microsoft the exclusive rights to develop MMO games featuring Marvel's heroes and extending the exclusive worldwide publishing rights to Activision though 2017.
Later this year, the X-Men: The Last Stand official game will launch on current generation consoles and Xbox 360 and you can also expect a game based on the forthcoming Spider-Man 3 feature film to launch along the move next year. But it seems that more Marvel games are in the works.
The latest issue of Game Informer has revealed Activision’s plans to release Ultimate Marvel: Alliance, an action game for current and next-generation consoles set in the Ultimate Marvel universe with C.B. Cebulski, now a freelance writer, penning the story for the game.

Too many comic-based games...
If I may...There are too many poorly executed/created comic-based games. The last Hulk and Spider-Man 2 game were quite fun.
GI informs that the game will feature more than twenty playable characters including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Thor, Elektra, Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer.
Silver Surfer? He'd wipe everyone out...well unless he's fighting the Marvel Zombies or Sue Richards bats her eyes at him causing him to think of his lost love, Shalla-Bal.
Thor? That could be fun. Oh wait, someone knocked his hammer out of his hand. Get him while he's Donald Blake or whatever! Oh no! Dr. Doom picked it up. We're screwed!
Elektra? Which one? Red, White or Jennifer Garner?
Ghost Rider? The chains, the bike, the flames. Ok. But aren't they going to make a game just about him when the movie with Nic Cage in it is released?
Sweet Christmas! Release a classic Heroes of for Hire with Power Man and Iron Fist!
My apologies, I've had too much Easter candy early as I am punching up the EvAv Weekly Comic Reviews.

You may, but only because it's you. You have a valid point, but comic-based games are becoming ten-a-penny these days. Almost like movie licensed games back in the day with US Gold and Ocean.

Dude, Power Man and Iron Fist would be the perfect comic to turn into a coop game!
(A pal at work once suggested during a "You just won the lottery, in what creative way would we quit our jobs," conversation that I paint myself black dress up as Power Man, and he would paint himself white and dress as Iron Fist. (I'm white, he's black.) I had to explain to him why this wasn't a good idea...)

As opposed to the comic based movies? Both industries are burning the candle at both ends with these comic franchises. Where the 80s were remembered for their cheesy Commando style action movies with Arnold, Stallone, etc. the late 90's and the 2000's are going to be remembered for their glut of super hero movies.

Ewww...did you have to bring up those two ugly names?
Dude, Power Man and Iron Fist would be the perfect comic to turn into a coop game!
But I think it would have to be based on the classic 70's/80's version of the comic, IMHO.

I agree with you there too. I mean not ever comic should be or needs to be made into a movie. And there are movies you don't recognize as being based off of a comic/graphic novel such as A History of Violence, where there was no spandex involved. Just one painful looking sex scene on the hardwood stairs. Ouch!

Isn't Sigil doing the Marvel MMO?
I wonder if McQuaid can suppress his disdain for the casual market long enough to churn that one out.

As a fanboy of Ultimate Marvel, this makes me happy. There are a few things for people who don't read the Ultimate Universe need to know.
1) Ghost Rider currently does not exist
2) Silver Surfer isn't a single being. Guh Lak Tus actually has created a number of Silver Surfer beings and placed them on Earth to prepare for its coming. Captain America has already taken one down.
3) Thor is still up in the air as to whether he's a real god, a creation of Science, or both. Most likely, it'll be the both part, I think.
Anyway, here's hoping they do something good with it and not make it crap. If they do, well, bad things will happen.

Did you have an easter turduken though!?
I just read about this monstrosity, and had to share it.
Threadjack! let me disgust you with THIS sugary idea (I've lost the link to the full recipie.)
1) Take One marshmellow Peep, slit open deeply, but don't cut through.
2) Insert one Cadberry Creme egg and close the peep around the egg. You'll need 2 or three of these for:
3) Cut open the bottom of one hollow chocolate bunny, Insert peep+eggs till full.
Serves one 5 year old child with enough energy to power a turbine, or kills one 25+ human. Your mileage may vary.

Boing Boing to the rescue! (http://www.boingboing.net/2006/04/14/howto_make_an_easter.html)
"Turducken" is called so because the original recipe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken) is turkey, duck, and chicken all incestually wrapped within each other. The "Easter Turducken", as Lekon explains, is the bastardized Cadbury, Peep, chocolate bunny version of the same recipe.
I'm not sure which of the two sounds more disgusting. :P

wow, the pessimism in this thread... :)
Saying "I bet that this game is going to suck" doesn't really amount to anything. 29 out of 30 games developed suck. It's best if you say "I hope this game turns out really fun. They better not fuck it up!". :)

Most of the game sites out there operate on a 75-100% rating system. I think anything between 75-80 is a fair sign of sucking.

Obviously this is subjective, but a game that sucks is one that is damn painful to play. 75-80% just doesn't do that.

An IGN 75-80 will make your eyes bleed. Most publications will give an 80 to the absolute lowest end of mediocrity.

Ultimate Spider-man was the worst game I ever purchased. They took everything that was good about Spider-man 2 and threw it in the garbage, then slapped on some cell shaded graphics and sold it to me for $50.
Fuck Treyarch.

Wow, talk about mis-informed.
a.) Although the title has "Ultimate" in it, if you have been able to see any screens/art of the game you'll notice that many characters and settings such as Galactus are 616 (aka "Original Universe") setting style.
b.) Upon further inspection Silver Surfer is playable only for a short time, because yes he is filled with the power cosmic and entirely too powerful to be a regular party member. Whether or not he's one of the 20 characters has yet to be said, but they've done it before.
c.) X-Men Legends (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/914644.asp?q=X-Men%20legends) and X-Men Legends II (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927388.asp?q=X-Men%20legends) have both been "well reguarded" as being fun and enjoyable for those looking for a Hack 'n Slash game with light RPG mechanics. I've played both with a group of buddies and they are quite fun if you enjoy a little mindless action within a Marvel setting. Considering that these are the same guys I won't be surprised to see the game get decent marks upon release.
So, fuck. I'm looking forward to the game.

Wha? I've seen 8.0's on IGN that aren't terrible. Usually, rule of thumb is with me if anything earns 3 stars or below (that'd be 60%), I don't touch it. Anything else is either an acquired taste or worth a shot.

2) Silver Surfer isn't a single being. Guh Lak Tus actually has created a number of Silver Surfer beings and placed them on Earth to prepare for its coming. Captain America has already taken one down.
Judging by some remarks in the latest issue of Ultimate Extinction, there will be one "main" Silver Surfer who they save.
a.) Although the title has "Ultimate" in it, if you have been able to see any screens/art of the game you'll notice that many characters and settings such as Galactus are 616 (aka "Original Universe") setting style.
The article says it takes place in the Ultimate universe... and putting Ultimate in the title without having it do so seems kinda dumb... I guess I'd rather have it in that universe, so we'll see.

Well if it's set in the Ultimate universe that'll be interesting. I'm telling you though, from the looks of the artwork and character designs I'd say it's 616. For instance Spiderman seems to be older, instead of being a teenage as he is in the ultimate Universe.
We'll see. Either way it should be good, hopefully.

Yeah, but who knows if that's ACTUAL game artwork/character design or just a huge banner featuring a ton of marvel characters that they decided to toss up. Time will tell.
