View Full Version : New World of Warcraft Machinima
Today, the new World of Warcraft machinima, Forsaken (http://www.thecodexseries.com/fs) was announced with a mysterious teaser. The series comes from the makers of the Codex series, a popular Halo machinima which has an established fanbase.
Stuff like this always interests me as I like seeing player made flicks like these. Always wanted to try my hand at one, but the rig always chugs when something like Fraps (sp) is running in the background trying to record.
The trailer was alright - music was the best part of it - but it didn't really say anything about the film. Absolutely no idea what it's about and it appeared somewhat bland. Hopefully, that isn't the case.
Well, it's just a teaser. Not really supposed to reveal anything too exciting yet.
I thought the point of a teaser was to make someone breathless with anticipation. Not, you know, confused.

Yea, WoW machinima is nothing new or special. Even for an established group I don't know how this made the front page.
You can get some fun WoW machinima right here (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4446981554735098778). :D

I could never really get into the Codex. I didn't like the way they dubbed over cutscenes from Halo 2 for some of the content - it felt really forced. I saw the first episode and didn't bother with the rest of it.
As for the trailer, it looks like a really long advertisement for... World of Warcraft. It tells me nothing about the actual Machinima.
I tend to prefer funny Machinima anyway. I've never seen a serious, "epic" one that I've liked, no matter what game it is.
Edit: lol that movie is awesome noname. What do you think we do *after* we post on EA...

Yeah, I've tried to get into a few Machinima since RvB, and I just never have been able to. I definently don't get into serious ones, and the funny ones usually aren't that funny. Maybe eventually I'll find some more that I like, but so far I've been unsuccessful.

Or *while*...
RvB is the only machinima I have ever really liked, even it got old fast though. Early stuff = great, newer stuff = meh

Machinima trailers are a dime a dozen, Codex never seemed as cool as Red vs Blue or amateur HALO montage's like this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4788646459164533832&q=halo&pl=true
Yes kiddies that's dual analog.
Try the last few episodes of the Codex. It got much better as time went on.

Downloaded and watched that, and I have to say I was completely underwhelmed. I guess if it's just a teaser, dropping hints of things to come, then it's OK. But frankly, I thought Zinwrath had much better camera work, not to mention it was the funniest video I've watched in years. :)

Ranger Gone Bad 2 was awesome. Frankly until Rooster Teeth came along, nobody did anything close to as good as what the Rangers were doing. Too bad they lost all the footage of RGB3 with a hard drive crash.
Most Quake movies (I hate the word machinima) is pretty bad, and this looks insanely boring. While I applaud the effort that is put in to making these things, they're generally done by people who have no business making movies, which is why they're making Quake movies instead of working in TV or film.
