Another one. This one even more ego maniac. But I'm pretty sure TeeCakes will say it is the coolest thing ever. DS is king kid, get used to it.

I like that kid, he was in Role Models.

The Go was a waste of time wasn't it? They don't even promote it as the lead platform.

The Go was dead on arrival:

* High price point
* No 'legitimate' method to transfer disc-based games to the Go.
* Price on software not competitive enough to persuade people to lose their disc for digital.

If they had really, truly wanted it to succeed they would have solved those problems.

...For like 4 hours, shitty battery life.

Nintendo competitors should realize by now:

It's all about the battery life.

If you handheld cannot pull off at least 10 hours of full-time playing, it will fail as a handheld. The first handheld that bests Nintendo in battery life with only equivalent visuals has a shot at competing. But they all try to go for more graphical prowess, which inevitably screws over the battery life, and it doesn't matter how pretty the graphics are if your battery is dead halfway through that trip to grandma's house.

It's funny how true this is.

If I have a handheld that even has the perception of a short battery life, I won't take it anywhere.

My macbook pro would last about 2 hours unplugged. It sits on my desk 100 percent of the time.

The ipad I just got lasts about 10 hours and thusly, I carry it around everywhere.

Even 2 solid hours of use is essentially nothing if it's not long enough to last you through a whole task.

The last game I bought for launch PSP was Gradius V...man that was long ago like 4 yrs?, but my PSP gaming consists only PS1 / emulation games. If the GO can be hacked and allowed homebrew, I would buy one instantly.

Agreed with Johan above - Sony did everything to fail the PSP.

I'm sorry but the PSP died when they tried to make psp-go, I've had mine since they day it came out in the us, the only thing i use it for now is watching movies on long road trips, and playing 4 games when all my other system's batteries are dead. and for my SP it takes about 2 days of gaming to kill it, and 4 months of standby time to even start hurting the game time, I agree it's all about battery life.

As long as the PSP is a hackable pirating machine, it's not going to die. Some people aren't even aware of the things you can do with a hacked PSP.

If a PS3 out of the box could do everything a hacked PSP was capable of, that slogan would be true. A hacked PSP can be modded (easily) to pilot a remote controlled helicopter. True story.

I don't think the PSP is about to meet it's end anytime soon since more companies like Square Enix are developing new games for it. However, whether if it can compete with Nintendo's new 3DS or not remains to be seen....

It can't even compete with the DS and you think it has a shot at the 3DS? Mac loses to the Sandman and you want to put him up against Mike Tyson? :P

I work for a sony affiliated company and believe that you can't even compete with the PSP. First off the price is unbeatable. I saw some black friday deals for a $129.99 psp bundle pack that includes 2 games.

Also, the simple fact that you can download games and movies to it is unbeatable. How many times have you broken cartridges or scratched your discs?

Naturally is there some bias, but i truly do side with Sony. I personally love how its much more than just a gaming platform. It can access the web and be utilized as a movie player.

And since its first and foremost a gaming system, I must say that I don't care who you are, the new God of War game, Ghost of Sparta is incredible.

Most smart phones do that better and for the price of one PSP game they could buy a ton of smaller games for their phones.

True but you cannot compare the experience of playing a video game device to playing a game on your iphone. A phone simply doesn't offer the same gameplay and amount of control options or graphics.

Smart phones also don't carry the same quality of titles that are offered on the PSP, such as the before mentioned God Of War or Metal Gear Solid.

Yes the games on the PSP are alot more in depth, thats a given, but the cost is a lot more. As it stands today the PSP has more games that are AAA but a year from now (http://www.iphone4forum.net/forum/iphone-4-news-7/epic-citadel-unreal-3-engine-running-iphone-4-a-2561/)?

Oh and welcome to the forum best!

The PSP offers several cheap playstation favorites that can be purchased on the PSN website for only $9.99. Socom, Twisted Metal, and Syphon Filter to name a few.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Oh, man. My psp hasn't seen the light of day in a WHILE. if the only Positive thing you can say about the device is that you can hack it to do other shit, the damn thing is double-dead.
The hack-my-psp market is pretty fucking niche

What can I say? Sony's got what I like. I really like that they have more of a broad range of titles for the young and old. They don't seem to necessarily target a specific age range. From Invizimals to Grand Theft Auto. They got something for everyone.

Trust me, the only thing keeping the PSP alive and well is the hacking scene. Seriously, a hacked PSP actually CAN "do everything," and as long as that doesn't change, the PSP will be around a while. I honestly say my PSP is my most played game system of any kind.

Actual PSP games, on the other hand...

Rather ironic that one of the first things anyone will do with a hacked PSP is put a NES, SNES emulator on there :P

Volume of games available. The novelty of something small exceeding the capacity of it's physical volume will never wear off.
