Without further ado from Variety (http://www.variety.com/index.asp?layout=upsell_article&articleID=VR1117941118&categoryID=13&cs=1)...

Avatar Films and Sekretagent Prods. have optioned bigscreen rights to survival horror game "Cold Fear" from developer Darkworks and publisher Ubisoft. It's an unusual license, since "Cold Fear" didn't sell well to gamers.
Thanks to Gamegossip (http://www.gamegossip.com/) for the tip.

The game is sitting in my pile of games waiting to be played. Has anyone played it? Is it worth the time to play let alone being made into a movie?

Yea, played a bit of it. Kinda cool with the ship aspect and all, but ultimately felt pretty much like a typical Resident Evil clone.

Do the writers/producers of these video games get credit when their games are filmed? Seems like there should be some sort of credit given.

It was an interesting game. WAAAAY too short and they didn't use the cool ship-physics as much as they could have.

In the end it denigrated into some weird mix between RE4 and The Thing. It was a fun little game, but not worth full price.

It might be the perfect length for a movie though. They wouldn't really need to cut much.

I heard the game sucked royally.

But it would make a pretty creepy movie. Ships = creepy.

Amen to that. Hell, just film the entire game and release it as a directors cut. They're both about the same length. :(

hey guys.....I actually liked the game...I thought the suspense and story were pretty good. The whole derilect ship thing was a good focal point. Res.evil -like in presentation, but I thought it had a swagger to it. Could be a cool movie if done right...Great ship effects. Kind of a sleeper IMHO.

Yeah, I agree. I dug the game. But I completely agree about it being waaaaaaaaay too short. Even though it launched at a $40 price point, I felt ripped off in the end. And the 'bonus' features were laughable.

It was a good game. A touch short but, not enough so that I felt cheated.

Anyone have an Xbox version that they want to give away? I've always wanted to try it.

Don't bother playing it. Back in the day the only atraction the game had was "its like resident evil 4".
Game's short, gameplay is repetitive, pretty much the whole god damned game takes place on the boat, and the story is really weak.

A cold fear movie is something I'd expect from Uwe Boll

Speaking of Uwe Boll - I just saw Bloodrayne. Damn Uwe is really a phenomenon.
You feel some mild entertainment going on with the blood and sex, but the story involved no brain activity what so ever. Uwe Boll is a bad director, but he hides it well, by using cliché scenes from box office hits like Matrix and especially LOTR.
I could see him doing Cold Fear like a resident evil clone.

Uwe Boll - Making movies for the lobotomized gamer since 2003.

Crap! I just saw that he's doing a movie of Dungeon Siege, Postal AND Farcry (not together though... hmm... Postal Siege In The Jungle...)

I've never even heard of the game.

Movie? Weird.

a resident evil clone would be like a horse taking a dump on a dog's turd.

there are actually very few properties i see that are worth making into movies, i just think as forms of entertainment movies and games are a little too different to meld together. Silent Hill i'm particularly excited about but after seeing a quote from Christopher Gans saying "i love American women, i love to f*ck them" and then making most of the cast of the film female kind of worries me a little. Still, the aesthetics are there and pyramid head got me a little excited, i just hope to god it's actually got enoguh style to seperate it from everything else around at the moment (ie: Jap horror remakes - leave them alone).
