View Full Version : Weekend Gamer - What are you playing?

I am looking forward to this weekend for several reasons. I will be playing Oblivion, UFO Aftershock (if it stops crashing), and more Oblivion. Maybe some WoW - though I haven't played that in a week now and feel no need to (blast work, you are killing my WoW addiction). Oblivion looks great on my PC but I am highly disappointed in the controls of the game. Why did they saddle us PC users with obvious console controls? That so far, is my biggest gripe, and it takes what is a 9.5 game down to a 8. What are you playing this weekend?

This weekend is good. Lazy days and some good nights out planned. No studying to be done for my Cisco course with the college easter break. Off call for another 6 weeks until my next 2 weeks stint.

So in between doing stuff with the girlfriend i'll be finishing GRAW on hard. Bit of Fight Night Round 3 and starting Ninja Gaiden Black. :) Lifes good.

far cry instincts evolution. although i'm really not sure how much more running around an island i can take. never played the pc version, so i thought i would pick it up. the bump mapping the characters is pretty awful, and the textures are really low res. ech. on second thought maybe i'll just play some nintendo.

Oblivion. Geometry Wars. That's it.

Starting over with a Dark Elf, but I can't become satisfied with his face. Anyone have any hints on making a gruff, yet not fugly, Dark Elf? All mine look disgustingly feminine or saddled with birth defects.

I managed to beat Suikoden 3 a couple days ago (55 hours of gaming bliss) so that's no longer over my head. It's a good thing too, as I'll be getting my X360 today. I'm thinking I'll be opening with GRAW so that I can get into the nightly games with the rest of the EA crew. Once I get in and logged on, I'll post my Tag as well.

Not really into gaming these last couple of weeks. I'll mostly be playing guitar, although I'm sure I'll check out KK Slider on Saturday night to get a new tune.

I just got my repaired 360 back from Microsoft - only 8 days round-trip, so it wasn't too bad. I'll be playing GRAW, Fight Night Round 3, Kameo and some Geometry Wars. Of course, that's only if Oblivion on my PC says I can play something else. She's a harsh mistress.

Since I will be on the road, I will have to settle for MP:H and Tetris. I also played the TR:L demo last night, and I may actually buy a Tomb Raider game for the first time ever if it gets some moderately favorable reviews.

I just recently left WoW and am starting to get back into the single-player gaming biz. I'm on the final fight in God of War (had never played and I'm in LOVE with this game) and just got beyond Wonderland in Kingdom Hearts (also never played). So I'm hitting some classics this weekend. Trying to get through all of the stuff I never got a chance to play as WoW consumed me.

I'll be playing Oblivion (PC), and messing around with Linux a bit. Probably fit in some Kameo co-op, and Geometry Wars. Last night I beat my Geometry Wars high score (it's now above 700,000)!

I'm on the final fight in God of War (had never played and I'm in LOVE with this game)I picked up a greatest hits copy recently, myself. I had played through it previously and just finished it again the other day. Though the third phase of the final fight leaves a little bit to be desired, I think. And if I never have to climb a rotating column of blades again I'll be happy. :D

As for this weekend, I'll get some WoW time in on Saturday as we head into Molten Core for our weekend raid and maybe I'll find time for Metroid Prime Hunters or HL2 (though whenever I'm in front of the PC, I tend to log into WoW instead of finally finishing HL) on Sunday.

Finished the main quest of Morrowind, 98% of Tribunal and now Im about a third of the way through Bloodmoon so the SECOND I finish it I'll be all over Oblivion and no longer will it sit on my desk taunting me to install it.

And in between a nice refreshing glass of Geometry Wars.

I played 85 hours of Oblivion since release day and just finished the main quest yesterday afternoon. Since I did the fighter's guild and mage's guild quest lines as well I figured I'd take a break. Packed the disk and manual away in the box... then 2 hours later I dug it out and created a new character.

Despite my (rather weak) efforts to stop I think I'll be playing more Oblivion.

Finally finished Shadow Hearts: Covenant, so that's the end of starting new games for me until after my exams.. However, I already started Oblivion. So this weekend, I'm hoping my willpower will last out and I won't be tempted to load it up, because this thesis really needs finishing.

I saw you on there last night. I beat my high score of like 315k and went deathless until 400k. I then proceeded to lose all of my 6 or so lives before reaching 415k.

A bottle of scotch ... and Oblivion. Jetherik If you cant beat them join them. Pick up a 360 controller for your puter, then you will get the best of both worlds. The rumble effect really does pull me into the immersion. At first I thought that I would never get used to the 360 controller but after playing about 30 hours on it, it becomes second nature.

Metroid Prime Hunters! It is da bomb. Everyone at work has it so we deathmatch at break. Then when I get home I have the Nintendo USB dongle so I go online from the comfort of my couch and school fools. I still can't believe that the DS can do this game. It looks great and plays beautifully. It is a true must-buy if you are a fps gamer.

I'll be purchasing my first Cruiser in EVE-Online, so I'll be putting that through its paces, blasting some pirate scum. I think a Halo party is in the works for this evening and then there's the DS with its siren call. Animal Crossing and MPH will get some play time, too.

On top of that, we're having great weather here today. I'd much rather be outside than doing anything of the above.

Sadly, this is my weekend of working PLUS I have to attend the 80th birthday party for my grandma, so most of my game time is shot. I'll mostly be doing the portable game stuff when I have a chance.

I'll be playing Oblivion as well as Kingdom Hearts 2 when I'm home, with Super Princess Peach, AC:WW and Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories taking up my time on the DS while I'm at work and elsewhere.

By the way, has anyone been able to get past Malificent in Chain of Memories? I swear, I've been stuck at her for the last year. I'm beginning to hate this game every time she destroys me. I want to finish it so I'll have the whole story about what happened between KH1 & KH2, but I'm also contemplating tossing my DS at the wall whenever I get sent back to the game over screen...

Some of you guys make me sick! I can't imagine getting a million, let alone 2. My palms start sweating when I see myself getting near my high score, and something stupid always kills me. I would like to record myself playing that game, to see all the action on screen. Like I said, most of it is sheer luck. Each time I surpass my old score, I wonder, "How the frig did I just do that?"

I just got 4 new JRPGs yesterday on a used games binge, and I didn't notice the pattern until I got them all home: Wild Arms 3, Suikoden III, Shadow Hearts 3... Of course I broke the streak with the first Kingdom Hearts, which I'm hoping to get through relatively fast so I can talk KH2 with everyone else. The first two hours have been surprisingly fun, and the whole Disney element is handled alot better than I thought it'd be.

I wanted to like the first Kingdom Hearts but just couldn't get into it. Does it get any better after Wonderland?

I finally saw an actual honest-to-gosh XBox 360 for sale in a store this week. Thought my next two weekends would be taken up but all my plans got cancelled today. Probably wait about 1 more week and hopefully they'll still be around then. Guess I'll take this weekend to try and finish up Destoy All Humans, Psychonauts, Jade Empire, and Stubbs then sell my XBox and games.

I was really impressed with the way they integrated the two worlds of Disney and Final Fantasy-style JRPG's. It seems that some people just couldn't get into the first KH, but I loved it from start to finish. The only level that I recall disliking was the Monstro level. That was pretty dumb. Thankfully the levels in KH2 are much better than in the first one.

I just picked up Dawn of War: Winter Assault while I was out this afternoon so I might fire it up and give it a try, although Oblivion is calling out to me...

Avernum 3, Ultima VII, Might and Magic VI, Prussia's Glory, Strategic Command 2, and Hammer & Sickle.

I wanted to like the first Kingdom Hearts but just couldn't get into it. Does it get any better after Wonderland?

I am of the opinion that it does. I thought Wonderland was pretty boring for the most as was Traverse Town (I tend to dislike games where enemies keep popping up despite efforts to get through a 'zone'), but after that I began to enjoy the game a good deal more. I'm two level after Wonderland and am finding KH is just now starting to pick up steam in the story department. It's wonderfully handled in terms of using the license and I'm very impressed with the game as a whole, just some points are sticking that keep me from being overly gushy with it.

However, I'm going to play though as it is by no means a bad title and - when KH 2 hits bargin - snatch it up too.

I use the mouse all day at work and would love the option without having to buy a 360.
