Just wondering if it is worth getting into for someone who doesn't want to jump aboard WoW again. How is the community? Server sizes? Content? Has it improved since the initial launch period? Is it worth 50? and a sub?
Thanks.

If I could compare talking you out of Aion to a real life event, it would be like me pushing you out of the way of a speeding bus.
If you're itching for a mmorpg, seriously give Age of Conan a go. Wicanna.

I played it a while back for some months. A few problems that plagued the game:
Gold selling wrecked the economy.
Disadvatageous classes (Gladiator, Assasin)
Farmers everywhere (once again... gold selling).
Not too much wrong with the game. It definitely had some good ideas; aerial combat is fun. It would help if you liked Lineage II beforehand. It is similar, but less of a grind.
Is it worth 60 bucks and a sub? Not to me.

Aion is a piece of shit just like every Korean game. I remember my friend couldn't wait for it to come out, then when it finally did he quit after a couple weeks.

No, tell me how you really feel.
Srsly, thanks tho. I want to get back into the MMO spirit before GW2 hits... just don't know what to get. AoC doesn't really interest me too much...

You could try Allods Online. A pretty spiffy F2P early on though I hear the end game is stagnate and pvp is non-existant at the higher levels though mid-game pvp is good.
Its like WoW in art direction I suppose so you might be turned off by that if you are burnt out on WoW.
The game makes liberal use of rep grinds, however, to elongate the game a bit as items play a critical role in your stat distribution. If you do play it I advise you check out the class forums so you don't totally gimp your character as respecs are bought with the RMT shop.
I've tried plenty of f2ps including DDO, Runes of Magic, and a host of Korean MMOs. This is the best one I've liked so far from Russian Dev Astrum Nival. I'm planning on using this game as an in-between when I don't feel like playing WoW (will be heading back in time for Cata).
