This game is sounding more and more impressive the more I read about it. The in-game art looks sweet too. If the PVP is anything like whats been done in DOAC, then this will rock hardcore.

I love this tidbits about Warhammer Online:
"Interestingly, orcs in particular will look distinct from each other, and from other races, since the further orc characters advance, the taller and bulkier they'll become (though warrior characters from all races will apparently become more muscular over time). Developer Mythic, the creator of the competitive-PVP-focused Dark Age of Camelot, feels that it'll be much more important to be able to quickly identify characters from a distance, so that smaller, younger orcs can marvel at the size of their accomplished brethren, while younger dwarves will know who to steer clear of."

"Yet all characters will be expressively animated with full facial animations that convey a range of moods (such as angry, sad, angry, happy, angry, afraid, and really angry), and the game will feature an animated face portrait of your character onscreen so that you can see your own character's range of emotions, rather than staring at your character's backside as they run from point A to point B."

Sounds like this game is going to kick some ass and it has the license/backstory/art/developer to back it up so far.

I'm with you, Captain, while I was originally a little disappointed that the WH40K universe wasn't being tapped for an online game (I can still dream though) the more I've heard about this, the more interesting it's become.

This is going to be a very hard title to resist if it fulfills even a small part of its potential.

Yeah, no MMO I've played since DAoC has come close to matching its RvR. If this game can offer a well-rounded game with an expanded central faction conflict, I might give it a go. It still kills me that WoW and SWG, both in universes that are perfect for large-scale faction warfare, both dropped the ball on that issue.

I wonder how they'll recreate the same mixture of reward and vulnerability that came from capturing enemy relics, when they implement capitol invasion.

Also, I'm actively blocking memories about how badly Mythic bungled game mechanics and balance in DAoC, so please don't bring it up. I'm trying to be optimistic.

I just cancelled my WoW account (it was just as exciting as playing minesweeper now) and I am looking at this as the next thing :) Exciting!

MMO developers realize how much of a juggernaut WoW is (Excuse the pun), so they will have to push extra hard for quality and uniqueness.

This game has wheels on their canons that are 10 sided, WoW's wheels are 6 sided. Thats 4 more sides of improvement!

hehe, actually I'm looking forward to this title. So far we have seen Dwarves, Goblins, and Orcs pictured. Anyone else have screen shots of the other races?

Sarcastically saying that Warhammer ripped off WoW when everyone already knows it's the other way around is so 02/2006.

It might be good. Aslong as they stay away from Massed CC...

It's not fun to sit around mezz'd all day. Not fun to stay stunned the 30 seconds it takes to kill you.

Just say no to mez.

Mythic has proven that it can deliver the one thing WoW doesn't, which is good large scale PvP.

if it weren't for PvE BS forced upon us by trials of atlantis, i'd probably still be playing daoc.

...mez is just another element in rock/paper/scissors. bring your mez counters, or expect to be beaten. Might as well complain about melee, stealth, or pbaoe. it isn't any fun for a bard to be dogpiled by a melee assist train either, you know?

first edition of warhammer was in 1983. Its pretty much had the same style since then.

I was being sarcastic boys. If you really want to get into it, Warhammer wasn't exactly original either. Tolkien had orcs, dwarves, and the lot before that, but he didn't create them either.

I actually quit when TOA came out too. Worst expansion EVER.

Of course I have since come back, since they opened up the "classic" servers, which are everything BUT TOA, including the new catacombs and darkness rising expansions.

Im not sure I like how they made leveling crazy fast though. hitting 50 feels cheaper now, unlike the feeling of real accomplishment you got when you hit it before. But I guess its a faster trip to RVR which is the real focus of the game.

I gues ignorance is bliss hey Magnanimous.

I know Warhammer only came out more than 23 years ago. I know the models and the minitures look exactly like the ones in the Warhammer game. Jee, I wonder who's game looks like who's.

I assume he means MMO. 40k already has an FPS, Fire Warrior, which wasn't all that great (and the much earlier Space Hulk might qualify too).

FPS alla DoD or MMORPG?

MMORPG of course. The wealth of material is pretty mind boggling.

Even if they stuck with just humans in Imperial space the opportunities are huge. You could have a huge backdrop of pschics and the inquisition, even set in one hive city, like Necromunda or Inquisitor. You could throw in chaos or stealer cultists you really could throw just about anything in there and make it work.

Although really to do it full justice you would have to include the other races, possibly on a planet or even system in the outer regions of the empire where something big was going down, an opened warp gate or huge tyrranid invasion force.

Actually, now I think about it, a Battlefield or Huxley style game set in the universe would be pretty sweet too, but not as sweet.

Wow, way to read my posts there buddy. Don't let me stop you from jumping to conclusions.

Some advice - the next time you call someone ignorant, please check to make sure that your post isn't full of spelling mistakes. ;)

Random, Mez isn't bad. Massed mez is. Area CC is just a bad idea. I'm not against single CC. It's the spamming of area CC that is pretty lame.
