Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) is reporting that Martin Tremblay, Chief Operating Officer of UbiSoft, has left the company to "take up new challenges". Full details right here (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2659&Itemid=2).

Ubisoft announced today that Martin Tremblay (pictured), COO of Ubisoft's Montreal studio has left the company after six years.

Tremblay joined Ubisoft Montreal in 1999 as executive VP, and took the COO position in 2000. Under his supervision, the studio grew from 450 to 1400 employees.

"These last six years within Ubisoft have been quite extraordinary," Tremblay said. "I've had the privilege of working with fabulous teams that have contributed to the company's success with their talent, and have helped me grow as COO. I'd like to thank them all for all these years working together."
This is unexpected news.

The start of the EA takeover?
I don't know about Evil, bap, Everlost, Jetherik, and Liquidize, but I'm up for it if you guys are. I have at least $20 in my wallet which I'd be happy to contribute should we decide to go forth with the masterplan.

Jumping ship in the face of Starforce lawsuits?

Wasn't it their Montreal studio that also lost a handful of key Splinter Cell developers recently? I can't say I like Ubisoft all that much (unrelenting sequels, starforce, etc.), but it's a shame to see such an awesome studio get pulled apart by industry squabbling. Hopefully Splinter Cell won't lose its magic, but the recent psp game was a disaster.

Not EA.. EA. The other one.

I think the Quebec city offices were heavily involved in the making of the last Splinter Cell. No clue what montreal is doing these days.

Time to literalize that term. IIRC, Evil has access to all the hardware we'll need.

I can't imagine a 5mil lawsuit would make anyone jump ship at Ubisoft. Really thats just not a big deal for those guys. Sure it will cause some pain down the road but more like a speed bump then something to quit your job over.
