Anyone try this game? Seems like a cool idea.

The folks in IRC have gotten a game filled up. It's done in real time, however the moves take literally hours to complete. One of my flights was slated to take 16h40m.

The Idle Thumbs guys have talked about it the last two episodes. I haven't tried it, but they seemed interested. Their forums may have additional info.

Looks good. My gaming backlog just got longer. Thanks for the heads up.

Backlog? It's a game that takes weeks to play, you can play while doing other things! So far, I'm really digging it.

If this game had an iPhone client, I think it would probably be the worst thing ever for real life.

So far it's pretty cool and I...don't know why. You just set it up and wait. The waiting makes you anticipate it even more and so you just stare and wonder "WTF am I looking at this for."

But, I like much.

Now that I've actually fooled around and kind of understand what is going on, I can tell this game will be great for the first thing in the morning.

hmm, I'm interested in at least checking it out. Signed up and joined a free game, just waiting for it to start.

It's awesome, I'm playing in 2 free games and 1 premium game setup by corwiniii.

Just look at this insanity.

Pretty much, but I was already en route.

I smoked pwn there. A costly learning curve to be sure. Kragg just sent 12 ships to their imminent demise too; I was able to out manuover him with my quick speed and superior fleet plus star defense bonus to weapons. Don't understand any of this? JOIN A GAME!

5 ships is a small price to pay for the trap that you are about to walk into.

Playing two free ones right now. Even tho it's in the early turns, and not much has happened, I can really tell that I'm going to like this game. I'll have to pick up some credits when I've got free cash and join you guys in one.

Keep your eyes open, corwiniii was kind enough to purchase enough credits for us all to play for free this time. I'm sure we'll get it going again :)

I think the winner of the game gets to start a new game. There are no start up costs, but I think like other premium games, it required 10 credits from others to join. For the game we're in now, Mr. Goodbar Galaxy, I paid 50 credits so everyone could just play for free. I have 730 more credits, so ya know - I have some to spare...

Yes. Yes it is.

Having broken my WoW addiction, I must say I've very happy events take days to complete instead of requiring me to manage 5sec cooldowns all day....

Lost my grip and ended up getting 2nd in my free game. Love playing, just have to wait till I get my PC fixed to play more, the PS3 barely runs it.

I'm curious to see what the purple player is trying to accomplish with this attack.

Anyway, I like this game. Should probably try to get into a paid game soon now that I've gotten a feel of it through the free games.

I wanted to say, thanks for posting about this game, I probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. I try out a lot of strategy browsergames to get a taste for how they play, since my theory is that someday somebody will build a full-fledged MMORTS with similar principles once the concepts have been tested and refined enough.

I've played one of the Neptune's Pride free games for a week or so now, and I absolutely love how well they've preserved the strategy of the 4x genre while dispensing with a lot of the overly complex systems that often make it hard to get into. I'm about 90% sure that one player is secretly coordinating with the quarrelsome neighbor I'm slowly beating down and will wipe the floor with me sometime within the next two days, but it will have been a fun time anyway.

I won't play it again though - I've made a rule for myself with these things, where I only play one round of any game that rewards you for being logged in as much as possible. That just leads to me wanting to be logged in all the time, and be constantly checking to make sure everything is okay, with no impending disasters that will destroy all I've worked for. Invasion fleets inbound on unprepared planets, or the equivalent for whatever context a game might use, in general. It's frustrating to play a game that requires constant attention, because either you give it that attention and sacrifice "having a life outside the game," or you resist the urge and let it go - and suffer often-crippling disadvantages in game for your trouble. It's addicting, and very understandable that people promote it in their games, but it makes me sad since I can never unreservedly enjoy a game built that way, and there's no point to playing a game that makes me sad.

I'd pay good money for a version that paused between daily "turns" so you could log in anytime once a day and give your orders though... or an offline singleplayer version where you could speed up time... :/ or a highly modified version where among other things everything you owned vanished from the universe when you were logged out... Someday someone's gonna get it right with a polished, convenient, and fun product, and I'll be waiting. :D
